My PS4 won't read games anymore.

Hello,

I've been having a problem with my PS4 console for several days; it refuses to read any of the games I have, or if it does read them, it crashes shortly after. I’ve tried several games and movies, but nothing works, the console doesn’t recognize the discs...
A friend told me he looked online and that the problem likely comes from the drive, so we opened up my console following a tutorial, and I cleaned the drive and the lens, but it still won’t read.
My console is no longer under warranty, which is why I opened it myself, but the cleaning didn’t help...
What solution can you offer me to solve my problem?

Thank you

    Hi,

The problem really does come from your drive, but the lens is burnt out so it can't read games anymore even with cleaning.

The solution is to replace the defective part; you have several options, you can either change the optical assembly, which means the lens + the carriage it moves on, or you can replace the entire drive, which requires less handling. Replacing the entire drive is therefore the simplest and quickest solution, but as you might suspect, a complete drive is more expensive than an optical assembly...

You will find all the spare parts you need on the website below:

As you can see, there are several lens references, so you need to order the one that corresponds to your console. Since you have already opened it, you can check directly which one you have; the most common is the KEM-490AAA.

Now it's up to you to decide whether to replace the entire drive or just the optical assembly; in both cases it will work, but replacing the entire drive is easier...

Thank you, it's very kind of you to share your time and expertise with so much detail just to help those in need; not everyone would do that for free.
