Hello,
On an ACER Aspire M5800/M3800, there was a CPU fan that was as noisy as a plane taking off.
I found a discussion on the forum by Kalagane75 suggesting to reset the BIOS settings to default:
"Delete" at startup to enter the BIOS
Check "PC Health Status":
- CPU Temperature (PECI Mode): 60
- CPU Fan Speed: 4200
...
Smart Fan: "Enabled" (that's the only thing we could change)
Launch "Load Default Settings" to reset everything to default in the BIOS. Then "Save & exit" [ok].
Miracle: no more noise, the result is that the fan returned to normal:
- CPU Temperature: 20
- CPU Fan Speed: 1132
But it's incredible: I compared all the other parameters in the BIOS which remained the same.
Maybe there's a gross mistake in the BIOS of ACER motherboards?
Thanks to Kalagane75 for the good idea but no thanks to Acer.

Hello, I am a computer technician and I confirm that there is a big problem in the BIOS of Acer motherboards that one could qualify as a huge blunder, but I cannot see how a manufacturer could be so incompetent, so I would lean towards an intention to produce hardware that is not meant to last too long.
Indeed, on many computers of this brand, it is impossible to adjust the speed of the smart fan on at least 3 levels because it either runs at 900 RPM or at 4200!!
I will spend the rest of my day posting everywhere on this topic because I find it totally unacceptable and I hope at least to provide an explanation to the unfortunate customers of this brand.
To continue using this computer, you have no other choice but to constantly open it in order to avoid leaving any dust on the fan and to apply high-quality thermal paste; otherwise, you will face regular freezes and random booting because the 900 RPM of the fan is insufficient and the 4200 RPM is unbearable for the ears. Leaving the case open can also ensure better cooling.
Best regards.

Good evening, I have this PC; you just need to change the fan and it's done.

Thank you! It's been months since I've been putting up with this noise. Now what a nice silence!
