Freebox TV making noise

Question

Hello everyone,

I've just received my Freebox and the box for the TV.
I noticed that my TV box makes a fan noise constantly, even when it's turned off!!!
So maybe the power button on the remote is just a standby mode and to turn off the TV box there must be a button on the box itself, but I haven't found it.
So here's my question:

- Is it normal for this fan to run continuously even when it's turned off, or is it a bug with the box?

- And if it's normal, is there no risk of overheating the fan?

You need to activate your hard drive, which is usually displayed as faulty, then you need to reset it.... (sorry, this erases all your data^^)... and restart your HD case! And the noise will disappear!

Hello  I have exactly the same problem! freebox HD (with only 2 antennas) installed this weekend. This noise is very annoying, and above all, you have to unplug the power to get silence!

Mine strangely doesn't make any noise anymore... After an update that happened one evening... Since then, no fan is running, it's shocking after 2 months of habit...

Good evening,
I see that these Free users don't know how to search the internet well, otherwise they would have quickly discovered a topic about version 5.2 of Free, which has only one difference compared to version 5: its HD box.
Indeed, the HD box of version 5 was said to heat up a lot. To address this, Free released version 5.2: a fan was added, and due to lack of space, one MIMO Wi-Fi antenna was removed.
The only downside for newcomers is that the speed of the fan is based on a probe that itself relies on the temperature of the hard drive contained within the HD box. However, since the hard drive is disabled by default, the fan runs at full speed (it's silly, but that's how it is). So, the hard drive needs to be activated for the unbearable noise to stop.
On the other hand, every 5 minutes, the HD box performs a safety check on the probe, and during this check, the fan turns back on for 1 second.

Honestly,

Whether the hard drive is activated or not, a fan that makes this much noise is not normal. I can't even concentrate on the TV because the Freebox is so noisy. Before, I had a casing that overheated and now I have a casing that makes a deafening noise.

Great FREE, keep it up, you're on the right track, but really, this is just ridiculous. I don't know which engineers approved this product, but it's shameful to sell a product under these conditions, and saying on the phone that this noise is normal is even more disheartening; even my ancient 7-year-old fridge doesn't make this much noise!!!

I wonder what the new gimmick from Free is going to be???
