Insert clips with Audacity

Hello,

I have a continuous 2-hour audio file in .wav format. I wanted to insert segments into this file every 30 minutes so I can jump from one to another.

I used Audacity to create several tracks and placed each 30-minute segment on them. The problem is that when I export the file to save it, all the tracks are combined into one, and I end up with a 2-hour file without the ability to move forward or backward to a specific 30-minute segment.

There is a multiple export function, but I will end up with several files, and when I burn them, I will have a gap between each one, which I want to avoid if I want the playback to continue seamlessly.

I might have missed something somewhere or perhaps should use another software; if anyone has any ideas.

Thank you in advance.

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 11.0

    Hello

"I would have liked to insert tracks in this file every 30 minutes to be able to switch from one to the other"

"I would end up with a gap between switching from one to the other, which I want to avoid if I want to let the playback advance on its own"

I can't understand if you want a gap or not, separate tracks or not...

If you burn several tracks on an Audio CD, you will have tracks that flow into each other if you let it do so, or switch to the next/previous one...
You can, when burning, eliminate the 2s silence between the tracks.

Another thing: you have your original 2-hour file in 'wav', it seems to exceed the duration of an Audio CD (80 min), doesn't it?

It's all set. I didn't want any gaps between the tracks, just the smooth transitions.

When I tested by doing a multiple export in Audacity and then burned it with Nero while properly removing the silences, I ended up with a gap between each track, but that was actually due to the playback software I was using. I tested it on a player, and the tracks flow seamlessly without gaps.

For the original file, I divided it into 2 at the base to have two one-hour segments and be able to burn it on a 700 MB CD-R, which I then further divided into several 10-minute tracks.
