Issues with my Blu Ray player on my Freebox Solved

Question

Good evening,   something strange is happening with my Blu-ray player (Freebox Revolution). Several Blu-rays are detected (meaning I can "Play the Blu-ray"), but sometimes, randomly, this is not the case. On the other hand, some are not detected at all...   For example, I bought Star Wars on Blu-ray: none are detected, they spin and spin inside the player without showing any signs of functioning...   Spider-Man 3: I watched the two Blu-ray discs inside some time ago, the movie and the bonus features. The movie is not detected, but the bonus features are... This is not normal since I had watched both a few months ago and had no problems!   Also, after restarting my Freebox, as if by chance, on my second attempt for disc 1 of Spider-Man it was detected.. on my second: not at all. Star Wars, however, has not been detected even once...   (I only took two examples, but I have actually tried all my Blu-rays, some were detected just after restarting the Free Blu-ray player, others not)   Anyway, do you have any advice or solution to give me, friends? :) Because I don’t know what to do, other than ask for an exchange of my Blu-ray player from Freebox... Hello two things: -the TV box must be connected via HDMI to the TV (using scart the Blu-ray won't work and this is intended to prevent illegal copies) -the latest firmware update 1.2.3 must be in place (the easiest way is to turn the box off and on again using the power socket)  If these conditions are met and the Blu-ray playback doesn't work, call the hotline and request an exchange of the TV box only (this is done within a maximum of 48 hours excluding weekends) Many players are defective, it's Chinese!!!!!! bye

Hello  Restart from the MENU on the front of the ADSL box (use the up and down arrows and then the side arrow), finally press OK with the round arrow.  Unplug and plug it back in if you're having trouble,  then restart the TV box (unplug it or it's hidden in settings with the remote)  and set the sound level back and try again.    I would like to point out to everyone reading this post that the PS3 console is much less fussy about playing Blu-rays!   Cheers

I had already performed the operations described before writing this topic... Unfortunately without any result. I did several searches and it seems that, in any case, the Star Wars Blu-rays (that's for sure) don't work at all on the Freebox player. It seems that the anti-copy protections are really strong and the providers don't give any updates to Free to fix this damn problem. But it also seems that the Blu-ray player of the Freebox is really of low quality. A nice innovation, but it should at least work properly.  Anyway, thank you for replying to me :D I think I’m going to check with a seller to buy myself a (real) Blu-ray player so I won't have any more problems.... But then again, it seems that many don't play all Blu-rays....

YES YES YES!!!!!!! After reading dozens of comments on this subject, I was starting to have enough. And then, out of desperation, I decided to turn off my Freebox player with the Blu-ray disc inside. I turn it back on and, miracle, the play disc box is lit up. I click on it and my Blu-ray plays :-)

Good evening,  I have the same issue with my Freebox Blu-ray player; it is unable to read a Blu-ray as the disc is not detected, but I can read DVDs without any problem. Is there a special connection required to read Blu-rays?

Hello there is still a solution! First of all, and this is essential (so be patient) call the hotline and convince the operator that the box you have is experiencing a typical Blu-ray issue, reiterate with conviction that you have already checked everything, including the updates for your equipment. Given the evidence of a defect, the operator will initiate a procedure to exchange the equipment. Generally, the package arrives at an agreed pick-up point near your location within 48 hours, and you will be informed (via SMS or email) to go to the pick-up point with the device and the accessories you are asked for, as well as the original box. Send back your defective device at no cost through the depot and take home the new one, which you will easily reinstall, and of course, make sure to try the Blu-ray playback bye

Hello everyone, and especially to those who are struggling to use the DVD/Blu-ray player of the V6.  I'm asking myself the following question: With over 10 million subscribers, wouldn’t Free be better off hiring real programmers instead of hobbyists? The new firmwares (which tend to be increasingly spread out over time) may fix some bugs, but they also create plenty of others.  I could list them without too much trouble.  Before the update to 1.27, I could read my DVDs with the Free player. Sure, it was a bit of a hassle and I often had to return to the main menu to resolve issues, but at least it worked pretty well. Since this update, it hardly detects DVDs anymore (I’m not even talking about Blu-rays). Sometimes it detects the DVD, but when I start playback, after a while, it ejects the disc and displays "Insert a disc" (whether it’s a previously used CD or a new one, it's the same). The operation is quite erratic.  I read an interesting post where the author said, "Instead of starting playback from the Blu-ray menu when it’s detected, you should go to the My Discs menu and then you can see the DVD or Blu-ray." Indeed, you can start playback this way, and it works most of the time. However, sometimes playback does not start, but the contents of the disc (VOB files, etc.) are then displayed in detail. So, no playback. Rarely, playback can be started from the Blu-ray menu. It’s enough to drive you crazy.  This is definitely a firmware issue, as the phenomenon occurred exactly the day after installing version 1.27.  I believe the programmers don't know where to turn anymore. It’s up to the Free management to make the right decisions because their credibility is at stake.  A little anecdote: In '95, I bought a JVC hard disk recorder. It was one of the very first devices of its kind. The fast forward went from 1.5 times to 360 times!! with a video frame that made it very easy to navigate. There was never a single bug on that device. It still works perfectly, but sadly, it now requires a TNT decoder. This shows that when real programmers create the software for devices, it works flawlessly.  All we can do now is pray or buy a decent player. And of course, also put up with the other bugs of the player, which I’m afraid will never be resolved.  Best regards.

Hello, we have changed the Freebox player 5 times and it's still the same, actually it's worse, it doesn't work anymore, it doesn't read Blu-rays, DVDs, or CDs anymore, so in the end we bought a second-hand Blu-ray player that works very well from Le Bon Coin, that's the only thing to do. So that's the only solution I have for you, good luck and best wishes for your Free Blu-ray player.

For my part,  1 - I insert the Blu-ray but the box remains grayed out. 2 - I go to the Blu-ray settings 3 - I check "enable autoplay" 4 - I go back to the Blu-ray 5 - eject the disc 6 - insert the disc  the Blu-ray finally starts.... quite a hassle. Why make it simple when you can make it complicated... A good old play button? Do you think!
