how to read a video ts and audio ts file

Question

Hello,
I have a PC with Windows XP Home, Media Player, and PowerDVD. I'm unable to read a CD that has a video TS file and an audio TS file... I downloaded VLC Media Player which is supposed to play everything! But I don't know what to do with it because it didn't read anything, lol.... I understood that I might need to convert these files to another format. Can you confirm that for me? ... Can someone tell me how to proceed to convert these two files so that I can finally read them? No, no, I'm not blonde.... just a beginner!

Good evening everyone, to conclude, I've always struggled to read these files and now, fortunately, with VLC, it worked by itself..

For my part, I selected the two VIDEO TS and AUDIO TS files that I had just saved on my desktop, "left click" and "open with VLC", and I went straight to the DVD menu without even burning anything... I even got to watch my movie in Finnish just for fun, just to say... Okay, I'm out!!!

Apparently, the latest version of VLC lets you do all this!!!

Hello

video-ts and audio-ts are not files but folders

the video-ts folder must contain files

launch PowerDVD and check the options; you should be able to choose the location of your movie

then select your video-ts folder and choose open

or launch VLC, go to the file menu, then open a folder

well... I realize that I lacked precision... my bad...
actually, I saw the audio ts and video ts folders when I tried to play them with wmedia player...
power, on the other hand, doesn't read anything from the cd
as for the manipulation with power dvd, I can't find a menu option... power starts playing but identifies nothing... eventually, it tells me there is no disk in the drive, which is actually blinking... and responds to power's commands

for vlc, same thing, I open the file menu, I select my drive on d:\, my drive is blinking and I have no file or folder named or to select....

Hello,  Generally, the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders are found on a DVD and not a CD.  Are you sure your medium is a CD?  Judex

my Prassi Dimo software that I use to copy my CDs reads the DVD and tells me:
closed multiborder DVD (dvdf3)
border 1
01- zone and length of this file 667.67 MB and it draws a solid red disc...
but it can't open it either... and therefore cannot give me the names of the files present on the DVD.

There you go....... if you have a lead......

For your information, I had a friend read the DVDs with Power DVD and WMPlayer. He has no issues; the DVDs open directly in Power DVD... So there are indeed files in the VIDEO_TS folder... Could this be a configuration problem with my player or a compatibility issue, and if so, what should I do?

To open a TS video that has been recorded on a PC, you need to open that file. A lot of files will appear, so you have to "select" all the files. Then, to open it on the left file, choose a program. "Windows Media Player" opens the file with chapters on the left, for example, 365 days in Montfermeil! Good luck!

But it always puts the movie in a folder that only has Audio TS and Video TS... There are lots of files in Video TS but I don’t know how to play them... Please help me...

Hello
You must have saved the content of a DVD on your computer. When you click on VIDEO_TS, you'll see a bunch of files with strange names. If you have a DVD playback software, click on the first file "VIDEO_TS.BUP"; it is the one that tells your "player": "this is a DVD file and we start here." It's a figurative way of speaking, but it's pretty much like that. The playback should start, and the files will follow one after the other: "VTS.IFO" then "VTS 01.BUP" then "VTS 01.IFO," etc. The DVD is divided into small files. Now, if it doesn't work (it means a DVD playback software is not associated with automatic playing), you can do it manually: open your DVD in a window that is not full screen. On your desktop, you probably have the VLC Cone. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the first file "VIDEO_TS.BUP" onto the VLC icon, and it will start. It's a bit makeshift, but in difficult cases, I do it this way because I don't know how to do it otherwise.

Hello, here is a response from another forum:
"Yes, it's really not hard at all, you right-click on the file you want to open, choose 'Open with' from the menu, then 'Choose default program', check if the software is listed and just click on it (the 'Always use this app...' box must be checked, otherwise do it), if it’s not there, you indicate the path of Nero Show with the browse button and look for the program on your hard drive ShowTime.exe.
For all Windows, it's almost the same thing, this is for Vista but you should manage even if you have another Windows."

You take VLC, you start your video "video ts 1" for example...
Then you take the corresponding file in audio "audio ts 1" and you drag it onto the video while it's playing, you restart your video and it's done...

Media Player Classic 1.2.3 is better than VLC because you can click on the video TS.IFO and get the total duration of the movie
whereas VLC doesn't work with IFO, and if you click on the first VOB it will only show the first VOB, then you have to click on the second VOB, etc.
that's why Media Player is better because 1 click on the IFO file = the entire movie.

when you click on a video file you see TS, BUP, etc.
you right-click on "VIDEO_TS" and a list of "tools" appears,
choose VLC then check the box "always use.." and then OK
from then on a DVD file will open with VLC which really plays a lot of video formats

Hello, I had the same problem and even if I selected both folders and right-clicked, open with VLC, it didn't work.  Here's my solution: Open VLC, click on media (in the toolbar), open a disc (or CTRL+D) then select the location of the disc and it should work!   Enjoy the movies everyone!
