Hello,
Here is my problem: I have an HP Pavilion t440.fr with Windows XP as the operating system. When I turn on my computer, it immediately gets stuck on the BIOS screen with the HP logo, offering two choices: Continue or Setup. My keyboard (and my mouse as well, by the way) are unresponsive, so I can't choose either option.
I tried booting Windows XP with no results, I disconnected my optional peripherals (scanner, printer...) with no results, and there is no floppy disk inserted.
Can someone help me? Thank you in advance!
Francky

I did a Clear CMOS, it worked!
1. Turn off the PC,
2. Unplug the power cord,
3. Remove the side panel of the PC to access the components,
4. Touch the case of the PC to equalize the electrical potential of your body with that of the computer,
5. On the motherboard, find the flat battery, and just next to it, the jumper that allows you to reset the BIOS.
6. Move the jumper and then put it back.
Bye!

Good evening, thank you for your response but whether I put a CD in or not, the screen remains frozen. I think it might be a hardware issue, right? But which one...
Thank you for your replies.

Hi everyone
a solution
first, you need to remove all peripherals from the computer (USB stick, MP3s...)
because it happened to me that I plugged in a USB stick to work on it, turned off the computer, and when starting up the computer got stuck because the BIOS set that USB as the primary boot device
there you go

Hello,
I just did the clearCmos and it seemed to restart fine. I boot into my XP section and at the moment XP is loading, the computer shut down and restarted, and I find myself at the same stage, stuck on the BIOS screen.

the same thing happened to me. Installation OK, but upon restarting XP, it got stuck on the logo.
(I removed the GPU, PCI, HDD... reinstalled, but nothing worked)
In the end, I had swapped the DVD and the HDD on the IDE ribbon cable, and XP was trying to boot from the DVD (of course, without being able to start)
Since then, everything has been working fine (which goes to show, always check if your setup is done properly)

Hello,
Here is my problem: I have an Armada 3500 with Windows XP as the operating system. It all started when I downloaded Sevent 2.1 XP. Once the installation was finished, a dialog box opened asking me to choose whether I wanted to restart my computer now or later; eager to rediscover my new desktop, I chose to restart now. After rebooting, I saw the Windows welcome screen which had changed and looked very nice. I selected my session and entered my password, but it did not work. I tried the second session with the same result. What surprised me the most was when I opened the session that was not protected by a password; when I clicked on it, I was first asked to log in with the session using which I had created this one. I didn't know what to do, so I forced the machine to shut down. I turned it back on, entered the BIOS, and set a startup password thinking it would solve my problem. Now, when I turn on my computer, it immediately freezes on a black screen with a message: power-on password. My keyboard is locked (my mouse is too, by the way), and being inactive, I can't enter my password which I didn't forget.
I can neither boot nor enter my password; everything is stuck except for the function keys F10, and even when I press them, it emits a system sound. Once I miraculously got into the BIOS, I thought that once inside, the problem would be solved. When I got in, in the same window where I was supposed to enter my password, it said the password is already activated and cannot be modified at this stage. What should I do?
Can someone help me? Thank you in advance!
Roméo

I had the same problem with the computer stuck on the HP logo,
I moved the jumper but nothing worked!
Actually, it was a short circuit at one of the USB ports.
While plugging in a device, one of the pins got bent and was
touching the ground. I straightened it with a needle and it works again.
Make sure to check your ports to see if there’s any short circuit.
Best wishes!

Thank you because that's exactly what happened to me and without your comment I wouldn't have guessed! Now it's resolved and at the first try, in 5-10 minutes!
By pulling the controller out of the USB port on the front a bit hard, I broke the port and one of the small prongs was stuck at the bottom of the port (sorry for the explanations, I'm not good at computers) ...
With a sharp knife I peeled it off, the port still doesn't work I think but my laptop is working again...
Without this comment I would have gone to see a repairman who would have charged me a lot for this tiny problem fixed in 5 minutes.
Thank you

Hello;
My problem is as follows: I installed Avast Pro on my computer, and before restarting, it asked me if I wanted to perform a hard drive check at startup. I said yes, and when the computer restarted, it displayed the welcome screen (I have XP Ladybug v4) and got stuck. After about fifteen minutes, I turned it off and on again and booted in safe mode. It worked, and I was able to access my admin session without any issues, but I realized that when I reach the screen offering to select a session at Windows startup, I could not access the other sessions locked by a password, and I noticed a light representing the number 1 in a house lit up on my computer (somewhat similar to the light that turns on when you press the SHIFT key), and I am convinced that this is why I cannot enter my passwords correctly anymore, but I also don't know what this light represents or how to turn it off, especially since it only lights up during the session selection screen. Moreover, it had already happened to me, and since I couldn't access any session, I had to reformat!!! I felt this blow coming, so I didn't set any passwords on my admin session (I know it’s risky, but I had no choice). If someone could help me with this issue, I would be really grateful if they could do so, as I work with my computer.
Thank you for any help you could provide, best regards, HIGHELYTE

Hello everyone, I have the same problem: I get stuck on the first page. This issue had already occurred 10 days ago (one morning), but later that evening it was not a problem to turn it on normally. Last night my PC started up correctly again.
Can you help me, especially by telling me what the jumper you mentioned is?
All these components are two years old.
Thank you.
