Is Usenet a good deal?

Hello,

I am tempted by the trial version of Firstload which provides access to Usenet.
In the terms and conditions, it states that the user benefits from 14 days of free trial, but after this period, the account instantly becomes a paid account if it is not canceled during the trial period.

Before giving my name and email address for the 14-day trial (I have no intention of subscribing to a paid account), I would like to ask: Is Usenet a good deal? How do I cancel in time?

Thank you in advance for your answers.

Usenet is clearly a good deal, but as has been said, you need to make sure to unsubscribe before the end of the 14-day free trial. If you forget to unsubscribe, you'll have to pay at least one month’s subscription.

With the end of Megaupload and the self-censorship of Rapidshare, Newsgroups are clearly a good solution.

I completely disagree with you. There are tons of movies to download on Usenet, music, and everything you need...

Moreover, it is not detectable by Hadopi because they are servers abroad and it is not P2P. So, it only has advantages.

      :)

I am a Usenext customer and they are debiting amounts that don't correspond to anything. Do you want to see my statements? Don't talk nonsense; you must work for Usenext.

Hello, I just tried it; a movie downloaded in 20 minutes, the offer is for 14 days free with a maximum of 1000 MB, so basically one movie...... I only provided my email address, where they sent me an identification code and a password, and they clearly mentioned in the email that no cancellation is necessary.... confirmed by the fact that I didn’t give any information about my identity, and no banking information.... so BRAVO, I'm really happy.
    Best regards.

Usenet is more than just a good deal. Usenet is the freedom, speed, and security of a highly reliable network: http://www.usenetforyou.com

Forget firstload, usenext, and other free offers like that; there are too many cancellation issues.

    Hi,
know that Usenet has a very, very bad reputation.
Wot is a commenting software on websites and apparently it's a complete scam; here are some comments:
DO NOT GO TO THIS SITE BECAUSE IT'S A SCAM IN FULL AND DUE FORM

    and there are many more.....
install Wot if you want more comments.
    be careful and safe travels..

Indeed, searching on Google, Usenet's reputation is far from commendable. I'm glad I asked before entering my details! Thank you very much!

I did a test on usenet.nl for the 14-day trial period and I'm quite happy with it (just a downside on the download speed: lower than their promise). Most of the files are of excellent quality.

Of course, you have to remember to cancel before the 14 days, but they send you a reminder email 9 days before, then 6 days before, then 3 days before... I canceled after exactly 13 days and 20 hours. They immediately sent me a confirmation email with my cancellation number. No issues to report.

I’m waiting a bit to properly prepare my desired file list and I will definitely subscribe for 1 month. At 12 euros per month, I’m totally ahead.

Those who complain and cry scam are the ones who missed the fateful 14-day deadline. It’s a virtual contract but still a contract. I put Post-it notes around the house and set an alarm on my calendar...

      There you go.

Firstload is not ideal in my opinion. The best is Usenext or Usenet to access the Newsgroups, and they also have an offer with 14 days free.

I advise you to take a look at this article and its comments; you'll find interesting information about downloading on Usenet and the newsgroups:
    (removed by moderation)

However, you must remember to cancel your account before the end of the 14 free days, otherwise you'll be subscribed for a month. It can be surprising... so make sure to cancel your contract after 10 days, for example.

Hello, you can unsubscribe right from the start.
The 14 days are gained anyway.
This site is the most interesting one I know, I'm 60 years old, my son is a programmer.
At a slow download speed, these 15 days give access to 300 Gigabytes, on ADSL.
I regret all the unfounded and disconcerting criticisms of USENEXT and about the disappointing level of our GEEKS...

Hi, okay, I've read everyone's comments and everything seems fine, but now if anyone or several people from Madagascar have tested it, I would like to hear their opinion on it and know what kind of bandwidth they have for the connection, because I have 8Mb but I'm with the operator that you shouldn't be using in Madagascar to play online games :p

    WARNING USENET IS A SCAM!

Many testimonies and victims will tell you the same thing, I have personally suffered from it.

Usenet clearly states that after the trial period they force us to purchase a subscription if you do not cancel on your part.

    This is FALSE!

Despite the cancellation, many people have been charged 100 euros, including myself, followed by numerous administrative procedures if the payment was made by credit card or the opening of a dispute via PayPal.
Victims contacting USENET to contest the charge despite cancellation have been insulted, threatened with legal action, and much more.

I find it outrageous for participants in this topic to encourage a site known as fraudulent; the least one could do is get informed!
The practices of USENET are in no way legal, and I advise everyone to NEVER give your bank details to this organization. Be very careful; many people have already suffered from it despite their cancellation period.

I myself canceled my offer the day after my trial period opened; the result? USENET charged me instantly 99 euros, and I am FAR from being the only one.

Be very careful with this site and with those who encourage you to take this offer.

You all make me laugh, everyone wants the best and especially for free!!! I've been subscribed to Usenet for two years (about 10 euros a month) by paying annually, you can find just about everything you want, the downloads work great and they have never charged me amounts exceeding my subscription!!! I really recommend it!

After reading all these messages, it's clear that the people who posted don't know what they are talking about. Even if they are users. There is confusion and misuse of language.

Usenet is a generic term referring to newsgroups in English.

Then there are the NAUs: Usenet Access Providers. Giganews, Usenext, Supernews, Usedemon, etc.

Just because you got scammed by UseNext or another provider doesn't mean that all NAUs are scammers. To say "usenet" is a scam is like saying "internet" is a scam. If you don't specify your provider, your type of subscription, your length of experience, posting here is pointless. Thank you.

      ThePoy has summarized everything well!

You need to choose a reliable, quality Usenet provider. The most famous is "Giganews." It's a service of excellent quality, but expensive.

I recommend two other very affordable ones that offer SSL encryption and massive retention. By the way, while navigating from one Usenet provider to another to test them, I have already unsubscribed from those I will mention, and there has never been any fraud: the charges stopped immediately:

      - Newshosting (look carefully, you'll find a complete offer for $9/month)

      - Supernews (same: but with less retention, and a significant number of incomplete files: that's why I migrated to SuperNews)

The danger is between the keyboard and the screen…
