Fermax intercom not working. What to do? Solved

Question

Hello, I have a Fermax intercom system in my house with two internal handsets (screen, phone, and button to open the door) and an external device for ringing with a camera. I have never used the video function (useless for me). The intercom allowed me to know who was ringing the doorbell and to open the door release on the floor so that visitors could enter. Suddenly, the external device stopped working: when the doorbell is pressed, it does not ring in the house, and we can no longer open the door remotely.  My question: is it repairable without changing the units? If the equipment needs to be replaced, do we have to change all the devices (external and the two internal handsets) or just the external one? Thank you in advance for your guidance.

Well... in that case, a check of the cable seems necessary... 2 wires seem to be touching, or the pushbutton is oxidized and in permanent contact if it doesn't return to the "standby" position... -- "He who wants to climb a mountain starts from the bottom!" Hello. ...  You need to start by checking if the system is powered; the 12 or 24-volt transformers that supply it are often faulty... You should also check if the wire is not cut.... Hello and thank you for your reply. The system is powered, as the bell is ringing non-stop... I had to cut the power at the meter...

Actually, it stops ringing after 5 minutes. I'm going to disassemble the equipment tonight, but there are so many wires that I'm wondering if I'll understand anything. If I need to change the equipment, what brand would you recommend (good quality not too expensive) for a black and white intercom? Will I need to change all 3 units (the doorbell and 2 indoor stations)? Thank you for your response.

It's true that testing without having the equipment in hand is rather tricky.... As for new equipment, personally, I have a Sentinel from SCS (Sofia model, I believe) that I paid around €200 for, in color, with night vision, remote gate opener.... however, there is only the "street" unit and the internal one is alone; I don't have 2.... I don't know if they do that, but I'm very happy with it... otherwise, >Extel, but it's more expensive... -- "He who wants to climb a mountain begins at the bottom!" Do you know the brand Urmet? It's hard to know what to do or not. Two electricians have already come to the house. They are telling me to change the three devices. I'm afraid of being taken advantage of. What advice would you give me regarding the choice of devices and the craftsman?

Sorry, I don’t know Urmet, but that doesn’t mean it’s not good... Personally, I’ve only ever had Extel and SCS... From the way the failure is occurring, and if you’re not handy, changing the 3 units might be necessary... it remains to be seen whether the wires can be kept or not, as changing them could lead to additional labor time on top of everything else... -- "Who wants to climb a mountain starts from the bottom!"
