Spreadsheet reserved by ...

Hello,

I created an Excel 2010 file that I password-protected. I have a new person coming to work with me, so I would like to remove this password.

Problem: Even if the password is removed, every time I open the file I get "the file XXX.xlsx is reserved by myself" and I have to enter my password...

What I have already checked:
- The file is not open on my workstation
- I have no active Excel.exe processes in my task manager
- As this is a network file, the necessary permissions have been set (added to trusted locations)
- my colleague is not prompted for a password and the file is only available as ReadOnly

I have tried to remove the protection, but Excel considers that my file is not protected.

Do you have any idea?

Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

In the document in question, press shift-alt-f11 (development environment).

    A new window will appear.

Look for the line starting with:

"DocumentProtection" and delete the entire line.

Save the development document and close it.

The EXCEL document is now no longer protected.

Apparently, the file got bugged and remained locked in protected mode.

    Best regards.

      Hello,

To access the VB part, the shortcut didn't work, I had to enable the developer tab and go to "View Code".
However, the "DocumentProtection" is nowhere to be found. I went through all the sheets and found nothing, even when searching the entire project.

      Hello,

Excuse me, this is the method for WORD documents; you can refer to this post on the forum:

this concerns more the previous versions and the link on one forum post is dead...
      If you have other ideas

It is also mentioned to look in Tool/Protection/...
Have you been able to see the different settings for these protections?
      And if possible, the deactivations.

      Good evening,
Actually, in Excel 2010 under file - information, all protections are inactive as if there were no password. My first reaction was to set a password and then remove it, but it's still in read-only mode with a password required to enter...
