Local network issue FREEBOX HD

Solved

Hi everyone!!!

I've been really struggling for a few weeks to solve my problem.
I have two desktop PCs connected to the internet via Wi-Fi with the FREEBOX HD.
Both machines can access the internet, but they can't see each other on the local network.

No matter if I try with a wired connection or Wi-Fi, it's the same... I've also tried manually configuring my network...
And the strangest thing is that if I use a switch, the local network works perfectly, but as soon as I connect the Freebox... BAM... no local network...

Does anyone have an idea... I'm losing it...
Thank you very much!!!

Thank you for your response, argaunotes!!!

But where can I configure the "infrastructure" and "shared" types??

I don't particularly know Free, but generally, you just need to go to the browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape, etc.) and type the address:

    http://192.168.0.1

This leads to a screen where you need to enter the username and password

If they are not provided with Free, you should try with:
    Username: admin or administrator
Password: admin or password or passwd

    Good luck ;-))

what do you mean by not being visible on the local network?
    in network favorites/ microsoft network?
it's better to forget that and connect directly to shares.
if the 2 PCs can ping each other (be careful of the XP firewall that blocks pings by default).
you access network shares by: start>>run>>\\ other's ip address.
    file sharing

      hello brupala !!

the two computers are not pinging each other.. I have 100% packet loss when I try to make them communicate, yet they both access the freebox router (192.168.0.254) and the outside since both have internet access...

I have indeed disabled the Windows firewall and even with the firewall I use (look and stop) disabled, it's the same.... the PCs do not communicate...

For now, I have connected them through Ethernet using a crossover cable and they access the web with their WiFi card... can you imagine the chaos....

By any chance, are your PCs in the same domain?

        It doesn't matter,
        especially for the ping.

    Hello,

    The connection on the FREEBOX must be of the "infrastructure" and "shared" type;
It is very likely that it is set to "ad-hoc".

    Good luck ;-)

I recently had a discussion here with someone who had a Wi-Fi router that allowed outbound communications, but a setting prevented communications between PCs.
However, it was not a fbx.
And no one has mentioned this being a fbx until now.
It must be some firewall setting somewhere.

      Hello brupala!

The strangest thing is that it's the same with wired... the computers are not pinging... do you think it could actually be a physical problem with the terminal (freebox)... basically, do you think my freebox box is crap???

    a physical problem, no, impossible.
The PCs would not have access to the net.
Can the PCs ping the fbx?
There must be some filtering somewhere.
By the way, what IP addresses do you have on your crossover cable connection?
And... when you connected them in a network, you said, through a switch, what addresses did you set (without connecting to the fbx)?
Do you have the IPX protocol installed?

      hello !!!

yeah the PCs can ping the router without any problem and can also ping outside

on my crossover connection I have
      PC 1: 192.168.0.5
      PC 2: 192.168.0.6

      on my Wi-Fi connection
      PC1: 192.168.0.1
      PC2: 192.168.0.2

and when I connected via a switch I had this:
      PC1: 192.168.0.1
      PC2: 192.168.0.2

with all the gateway and DNS parameters manually filled in. As I told you, the local network was working perfectly... but as soon as I connected the router to the switch... no more local connection... and both had internet access...

I’m not sure if I have the IPX protocol installed... where can I install it please?? Thanks a lot !!!!!

    Well,
    it's not going well.
you shouldn't have the same IP network on 2 (active) interfaces at the same time.
but the problem is that it's in the situation where it shouldn't work that it's running: you can't have 192.168.0.X on the crossover cable and on the wifi connection at the same time.
the crossover cable should be on 192.168.1.x
by the way, what are the masks?
however, on the network with the switch ... why does it stop working when you connect the fbx .. it doesn't make sense at all with the best intentions.
I ask you if you have ipx installed because tcpip is blocked by the firewalls, but not ipx, it doesn't go through the internet, but it works in a private network on the switch (Windows shares) and over the crossover cable.
to install ipx, add the protocol in the network connection properties.

      Hello brupala !!!

Thanks to your advice, I modified my cross-network settings, it’s set to

      pc1: 192.168.1.1
      pc2: 192.168.1.2
      mask 255.255.255.0

      and the Wi-Fi

      pc1: 192.168.0.1
      pc2: 192.168.0.2
      mask 255.255.255.0

I also added the IPX protocol...
I’m lost, the PCs still can’t communicate over Wi-Fi.... it’s a mystery... do you have any other ideas ???
      Thanks !!!

if you unplug your crossover cable,
there's no more access to the windows network?
your situation is more than strange, especially the part about connecting the router to a switch which has the effect of blocking the local network.
if you set your PCs to automatic IP address (towards the router)?

    First,
right-click on your computer, properties, general: change the workgroup name to whatever you want (no spaces). Do the same on your second PC and then restart them.
I recommend manually configuring the IP addresses of both computers. For example, the first one 192.168.0.10 and the second one 192.168.0.11.
Regarding the ping, if it doesn't respond, disable the Windows firewall, and if you are using NORTON as your antivirus, then disable the NORTON firewall.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
