Starsat hd remote control only works from

Hello,
I bought a starsat hd 1000 and the remote control, even with good batteries, works but up close, after 3 meters it’s no longer possible. Thank you for helping me.

Configuration: Windows 7 / Firefox 8.0.1

    Hello, it could be the remote control or the infrared receiver of the decoder that is faulty (this happened to me recently with a new DVD player).
    If it's still under warranty: exchange.
    If no longer under warranty, check the remote control diode by filming it with a mobile phone; while pressing the remote control buttons, you should see the diode light up on the phone screen.
    As for the infrared receiver, the repair is simple for a good handyman equipped with the right tools: if you have an old decoder, retrieve its diode and place it in place of the faulty diode. You can also order this part from specialized websites for a small sum (you only need to change the diode, not the 'box' or metal surrounding it).
    Another possibility, though unsightly and not guaranteed for all cases: drill through the protective front screen located at the front of the decoder in front of the diode (a solution for 'desperate' cases).

      Thank you, the remote control works with the camera. I would like to roughly know where the receiver's iodide is.

      She is hidden behind the front panel of the satellite receiver, you might be able to catch a glimpse of her with a flashlight behind this translucent front, in transparency, the ideal is: to disassemble it (the 'drilling' technique is strongly discouraged... it's up to you to decide...) and remove the translucent front of the receiver to expose the diode and see if it works better.
      If it doesn't work better, the receiving diode is probably to blame, redo its soldering as well as that of its metal ‘cocoon’, try replacing the diode with one salvaged from another non-working device, it might work.
      If it is indeed the diode, there's nothing to change: a soldering iron, the tools to disassemble the decoder (appropriate screwdriver bits), and a bit of common sense.
      Be careful, do not work on the inside of the device when it is connected to the mains!
