Hello,
I have a problem with a Dell Optiplex GX260 PC. I want to install Windows on it, but the hard drive is not detected. I have tried changing the IDE cable, swapping the hard drive (I've tried 3), removing the battery, etc. Nothing works, I still get this message at startup: Strike F1 to retry boot F2 for setup utility and two beeps. What should I do?

Hello,
when you press f2 for the setup page, make sure the hard drive is listed there, otherwise you can't proceed.
If your drive isn't there, check the connection (which you say you have done) and also the jumper on the hard drive, it can be set to master or CS (cable select) if there are no other drives or CD/DVD readers on the same cable.
Then go back into setup (F2), once the drive is present, check if the first boot is the cdrom and the second boot is the hard drive.
