Disable laptop fan?

Anonymous user -

Hello
I make music and record sound with my phone. The only issue I have is that the fan sometimes turns on during recording with the microphone, which naturally ends up in my recording. Also, I have the following question: is it possible to temporarily disable the fan, just long enough for me to make my sound recording (2-3 minutes, no more)?

Thank you very much

@@ HUG ! @@

The activation and deactivation of the vents are managed by the ACPI functions of your motherboard... The problem is that to access and/or adjust it, you need a "super modifiable" motherboard which is sold very, very expensively, and I don't know if such a thing exists for laptops. (for desktop PCs, for sure!!!)

Ideally, you should configure your line IN and connect a microphone to it, or else buy an external sound card... But in any case, move away from your fan... If your laptop isn't hot, the fan won't kick in. You can try lifting the area where
the fan is (under the laptop)...

Thank you for your response.

I wanted to know if it was possible to have software access to the fan management.

For the sound card, the USB does not provide a sufficiently continuous flow, and quality FireWire is still a bit beyond my means, so I chose a very effective PCMCIA card, the Echo Indigo I/O.
My only problem is the fan :-)

I will follow your guidance, I'll see what happens

Thanks again

Maybe this will help you... But I thought you only had a built-in sound card on your laptop (and therefore the mic on the said laptop and not a jack plug...) so if your card has a mic input forget the line thing... And put an extension on your mic on the mic plug if you have an extra mic...

Maybe set the processor speed to minimum: then it will heat up less: so the fan will run less
