Hello everyone,
First of all, I congratulate you on this excellent forum, which, however, has not allowed me to find a solution to my problem. It’s frustrating, especially since I’m convinced that the issue I’m encountering has already been addressed. I just can’t seem to find the answer.
Here’s a quick reminder of my configuration:
Wireless modem router DG 834G V2 (I’ve had it for 15 days)
Firmware: 3.01.25
A laptop equipped with Windows XP Home Edition with a Wi-Fi module
A desktop PC equipped with Windows XP Pro with a Netgear WG111V2 Wi-Fi dongle
Both of my computers are connected to the wireless network, without a WEP key
DHCP is set to ON.
The characteristics of my internet connection (Cegetel) have been automatically detected by the modem, and they are as follows:
Router Status
Account Name
Firmware Version: V3.01.25
ADSL Port
MAC Address 00:14:6c:6d:de:21
IP Address 84.6.210.219
Network Type PPPoE based on LLC, VPI: 8, VCI 35
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.255
Gateway IP Address 84.6.208.1
Domain Name Server (DNS) 86.64.145.146
84.103.237.146
LAN Port
MAC Address 00:14:6c:6d:de:20
IP Address 192.168.0.1
DHCP On
Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0
Modem
ADSL Firmware Version 4.01.02.00
Modem Status Connected
Download connection speed 8128 kbps
Upload connection speed 640 kbps
VPI 8
VCI 35
Wireless Configuration
SSID NETGEAR
Region France
Channel 11
Wireless Access Point Enabled
Broadcast Name Enabled
So here’s my issue: The internet connection is lost intermittently after a few hours at most, and the message displayed in Internet Explorer is a classic "server not found." Internal network communication still works, and I can access the modem’s control panel.
We then find:

The only solution I’ve been able to find so far, apart from taking a hammer to the modem, is to either reinstall the modem from the provided CD or restore the saved settings from a time when the connection was established.
Thank you for your help; I apologize for the length of the message, but I wanted to provide you with as much information as possible. I’m counting on you, thanks again.
Mathieu.

Hi,
LCP is one of the components of PPP (it's the link layer, the lowest one), so it's the PPPoE that isn't working, probably because it isn't well established at the ATM level either.
A restart of the modem (router) doesn't fix the issue?
Check with Cegetel if they can do something about it.
Also, check the telephone installation at the ADSL level (capacitors, filters...)
