Good evening.
During the night from Thursday to Friday, we had a storm that fried my internet box.
My TV was connected to this box by an RJ45 cable. The cable was a bit burnt, but I thought it was just dead and that was it.
Today, I bought a new cable, and it turns out the issue isn't with the cable but with the TV's port.
Can this be replaced considering I'm not an electronics expert?
Can I send it for repair? And how much could it cost? Depending on the price, I might be able to claim it on insurance...
I'm fortunate that the lightning only affected this, but if I can only watch *** on TV, I might as well have bought an old black and white TV ^^
Thank you for your answers.

Hello
as a former repair technician, I suggest you first try mediation with your insurer (home liability insurance) for "electric risks," lightning, etc. There will, of course, be depreciation to deduct, but honestly, a recent TV that has suffered a significant electrical surge is "dead" permanently, the same applies to the Free box that you will have to reimburse (read your contract). Also, check the ADUF and Freenews sites and forums; you'll find similar cases with solutions. Be firm in your negotiations with your insurance to get the best compensation possible.
Good luck!

However, I am not with Free and my box has already been replaced and is functional ;)
