Hello,
It is true that Money is quite dense...
1 / Display the list of accounts
2 / Activate the tools tab
In the dropdown list, choose: Third parties and categories
Then, it's pretty intuitive...
Best regards

Indeed, I found the answer on the Microsoft forum, see below
it is negative... in a way it reassures me....
but thanks again
Best regards
Good evening,
Unfortunately, this is not possible in Money.
In any case, this notion is not utilized in the application.
If you need an additional sort order, you can use
classifications which will be completely independent of the
selected categories.
Best regards.

The response for creating a category group in Microsoft support
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/916912
is
INTRODUCTION
It is not possible to create new category groups in Microsoft Money. However, you can create a new classification that contains sub-classifications to track operations in states. This article explains how to create classifications to track operations.
More information
To create classifications to track operations, follow these steps:
1. In the Accounts and Schedules menu, click on Parties and Categories.
2. In the left pane, click on Classification 1 or click on Classification 2.
3. Select, enter a classification type, and click OK.
You can also add a subclass to a class. To do this, select New Subclass.
If you add a classification, the classification is listed in the Ledger under Category when you add a new transaction.

Good evening, and thank you for the response.
However, I may have expressed myself poorly, as I have no trouble going to "third parties and categories."
It is precisely in this intuitive part that I cannot modify and customize the "category group" field.
Modifying the categories is not a problem... but the groups...
If you can help me
Thank you again.

Good evening,
I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.
I couldn't find a solution. For lack of a better option, here is the address for Microsoft support dedicated to Money.
https://support.microsoft.com/newsgroups/?n=microsoft.public.fr.money
If there is a solution, everything suggests that it can be found there.

I found out how to do it. It's true that it's hidden! But to say that it's impossible... It seems like they're simplifying things at Microsoft support.
So with Money 2004
You click on the customization tab at the top right
you add "categories"
You click on the new tab and then it's actually quite intuitive ;)
You can edit pretty much everything.
Good luck.

Hello,
Hello,
After a major hard drive issue, I had to reinstall everything.
After numerous attempts to recover my last Money backup, I gave up and started with a backup from over a year ago. But there’s a problem: I no longer have the drop-down list of third parties when I enter transactions, even though my list of third parties is fine and auto-completion works. Only 2 third parties appear in the drop-down list, and they are third parties with zero amounts assigned. For example, if I create a new third party, it will appear during the first entry (zero amount), but then it disappears again for the next entry. If anyone can help me, that would be great. Because as it stands, entering more than 600 transactions is really a hassle.
Thanks
Bdgn

Hello, I think I found the solution
So actually, Money no longer displays the accounts that haven't been used for more than a year in the transaction entry dropdown menu. And since my backup was from October 2006, I had to struggle like an idiot, sweat, despair, etc. before my brother figured it out.
So either you create recent dummy transactions - or better: You need to close Money, change the computer date to go back in time, then reopen Money and it works. Once Money is open with the fake date, you can switch back to the correct date.
There you go, if this can help someone, great, it’ll be a little compensatory satisfaction for the time I wasted with this mess.
thanks
