Hello,
On our computer network, we have some PCs that can insert an image in cgm format into PowerPoint, and others that cannot.
The Office versions are all the same. And the files cgmimp32.cfg, cgmimp32.flt, cgmimp32.fnt are present on all workstations as well.
On the problematic workstations, it consistently asks me to convert the file before insertion, and regardless of the file format indicated for conversion, it is impossible to insert the image.
I attempted a repair of PowerPoint: failure.
I tried to recover the 3 files from one of the workstations where it works: failure.
Does anyone have a solution to propose?
Thank you.
Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 3.6.23

Hello,
I don't have much to offer you, just a few software programs that can open the CGM format. Specifically, it's the ms.cgm image that we used to see on old systems:
Micrografx Windows Draw - Star Office which became Open Office - Pixfolio - Corel Draw?

The CGM format has experienced a revival in recent years. In the 1990s, it was rather outdated. It is possible that some versions of PowerPoint did not support it.

The 3 files are a configuration, a print filter, and a font. It seems that something is missing (plugin? for the workstations where it doesn't work - the PowerPoints that work might be from a higher version (Enterprise?) and allow direct opening of this format in reading mode.
