Hello,
I have had a Nikon D3100 for 6 months. When taking pictures in low light with the flash, I sometimes notice the appearance of a black spot on the image. I then realized that my flash has a yellowish color and not white. Is this normal or should I contact the seller again?
Thank you.

Hi Didier, the appearance of a black spot, if it is rounded at the bottom of the image, is normal: it is a sign of shadow cast by a too long zoom, the flash coverage exceeding in wide angle, or an unnecessary sunshade...
It has nothing to do with the apparent color of the plastic cover of the flash, which may seem tinted by the internal components and can be disassembled and cleaned if necessary.

Hello,
I bought a NIKON D3100 a year ago. Since then, I've been struggling with NIKON's customer service to repair my device. The problem is that the flash goes off every time I take a photo. I can't open the flash even when I press the button. As a result, I smell something burnt inside the camera, the flash goes off but stays closed. Do you know why? Where does the problem come from? Thank you for your help.- Hi champi44,
I'm struggling with Nikon's customer service: what's the problem? If the device is under warranty, they have to repair it, unless they can prove that the malfunction is due to user error...
If the device is no longer under warranty, it's up to you to pay for the repair.
You can disable the flash through the menu in A mode and in portrait, child, macro, night programs.
The issue is either due to an electrical fault (the opening signal is not being sent) or more likely a mechanical failure at the flash opening (broken part, jammed, electromagnet, ...)
In any case, if you smell something burnt inside the device, avoid using it like that..., remove the battery and send it for repairs.
