Startup issue on HP Omnibook xe4500

Hello,
I have a problem with starting my HP Omnibook xe4500 laptop. Nothing shows up on the screen.

When I plug it in, the power LED lights up.
When I turn on the laptop, the LEDs light up, and then nothing. The power LED is on, the fan is running, but there's nothing on the screen, not even a beep.

Some forums say the issue is due to the CMOS battery, I took the laptop apart, but I couldn't find a battery.

Thank you for your help.

    Hello

I'm having the same problem with an Omnibook 6000. I've tried everything and finally, it starts if I press CTRL Alt Delete...

I have another problem. I have no sound anymore. If it's a driver update issue, I can't find the right driver...

    Thanks in advance.

Hello everyone. My XE2 PC won't start. Battery is okay, power supply is okay, lights turn on, then off right away, and the screen doesn't display anything. I changed the memory card which I think has nothing to do with this failure to start.
Regarding the hard drive, I'm hesitant to force the opening latch, there are no locking screws. Should this latch be pushed or pulled? It is perpendicular to the hard drive cover. Do you have any advice on this?
Thank you for your help. Best regards. Manolo

    Hello,

I also have a BIOS problem with my HP XE4500,

    02B0 diskette drive A error

I am trying to open the laptop to access the BIOS battery or other tricks, but there seem to be 2 screws in the middle of the laptop that I can't remove! Where can I access these screws? Under the keyboard?

Thanks to anyone who can help me, without me breaking everything on my PC...

    Regards.

    Patrice.

I just dismantled one, you need to remove the 4 screws right behind the screen, then unclip the cover where the speakers are... after that it's fine.

As for the one I have, it no longer responds at all. I think it's more likely the motherboard.

        Hello everyone,

Thank you, Olivier... indeed, the screws were well hidden where you indicated...

I removed the battery... waited 5 minutes... and I put everything back together... and the BIOS is still not reset to zero!!!!!

On Monday, I'll try again, and I'll see if I can find the corresponding jumper!!!!

Thanks everyone, and I'll keep you updated... in case it can help someone else in the same situation as me...

        Regards.

        Patrice.

        Thank you.

        Salut,

I have an HP Omnibook XE4500 laptop and I can't figure out how to remove the speaker covers.
Will this allow me to completely open the laptop? The problem I'm facing is that the power connector is broken and I need to open it to see if it can be repaired.

Thanks for your help and please explain in detail.

Normally, the instructions for disassembly are located in your computer's manual.
Indeed, assembly/disassembly operations are often specific to each brand/model.

    Good luck.

    Hello everyone,

As previously mentioned, the most difficult screws are located UNDER the speaker covers, and then we remove 2 screws that hold the keyboard, and I believe 2 more to finally open the machine...

Nothing too difficult as long as you've removed the speaker cover..

To reset the BIOS, the first time I removed the battery for 5 minutes... and that was way too short.

The second time I left the battery out for a whole night, and in addition, I connected the positive and negative terminals (where the battery sits on the PC) to discharge completely...

Removing the battery is quite a challenge... you have to wedge your fingers between the motherboard and the back of the case and slide two of your fingers in!!! The same goes for putting the battery back in...

    Best regards to all.

    Patrice.

    Hello everyone
To reset the BIOS (except for passwords) on HP Omnibooks, no need to disassemble it; there is a small hole at the bottom of the laptop where the reset button is located (usually next to the memory slot cover).

    Disassembly of the xe450:

Note the location of the screws

    Remove the battery.
    The RAM.
    The wireless network card.
    Hard drive.
The cover above the keyboard (two screws at the back).
The speakers (one screw in the middle).
    The keyboard (4 screws).
    The button panel (one screw).
CDROM (2 screws on top towards the back).
The screen (2 screws at the back, 2 screws from the antenna on each side, 6 screws (3 on each side).
All screws from the bottom (15 or 16).
Two screws at the back and two more at the front above the touchpad.
Note the location of the screws
Hard drive + floppy drive guide.
    Infrared card (2 screws).
    Heat sink (3 screws).
    Processor (set it aside).
    Motherboard (4 screws + 6 at the back (db15, db9, db25)).

    Good luck.

      Thank you for your response,
it’s an HP Omnibook XE4500 and not 450!

I need to open it to replace the broken power connector (75W)

Do we need to disassemble in the order listed?

How do you unclip the speaker cover?

For the keyboard, where are the 4 screws?

For the button plate, where is the 1 screw?

      ...
      Give me more details

Salut, il faut enlever les vis derrière l'écran puis ensuite (faire sauter le cache en plastique sur le son) et après c'est bon.

Hello, two years ago you posted a message on the "comment ça marche" forum regarding a problem you had with your HP Omnibook XE4500: nothing happens at startup, just the fan starts, and the power LED is on.
I am currently experiencing the same issue and I am wondering if the motherboard is dead or if it is the hard drive...
That is why I wanted to know how it ended for you: did you change your hard drive and lose your data? Did you have to get a new PC but were able to recover the data from your hard drive? Or something else?
If you could reply, it would be very nice of you.
Looking forward to your response, enjoy your holidays.
