Hello everyone,
I just set up my new build and I'm having serious issues at startup...
Configuration:
Mobo: XFX 780iSLI
CPU: C2Q Q6700
RAM: 4x 2GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC6400
GPU: Gforce GTS250 1GB Gainward
Primary Master: Velociraptor 150GB
Primary Slave: Caviar Blue 320GB (currently disabled)
Secondary Master: DVD Drive / DVD Burner SATA2
PCI: PCI Card 4USB
PSU: OCZ 650W
Monitor: Asus 19" Wide
Keyboard: crappy PS2 one for the installation
Context:
I just built this setup to install W7
My 2 HDDs are empty
Procedure:
I turn on my PC, a startup beep is heard (1 long + 2 short)
The startup codes are displayed on the Mobo, until Error Code 7F appears, which is the POST ERROR code.
And during all this time: Nothing on the screen, "No Signal".....
So the question is: what should I do...?
I should set the boot priority with the DVD drive first and the Veloc second, but the problem is that I can't access the BIOS since there's nothing on the screen...
(Everything is well connected - only the necessary components)
(It seems to me that no jumper is needed on the SATA2 drives, and besides, I didn't receive any with the HDDs...)
HELP! :(
EDIT: I press F1 when the 7F appears, and a FF code shows up: Boot Code.
My W7 install CD seems to be spinning but still nothing on the screen :o
EDIT: 1 long beep + 2 short beeps: Graphics Card problem...
It's running, I've disconnected and reconnected it, still the same thing... Should I try with another GPU?

Good evening
If you go see here:
https://www.vulgarisation-informatique.com/bips-bios.php
you have the error codes for the beeps.
In your case (which is not surprising) there's an error with the graphics card.
Check the connection of the GPU. Is it functioning? If there's a fan,
is it spinning?? Be careful, some GPUs need an additional power supply,
a cable to plug in as well

EDIT : 1 long beep + 2 short beeps : Graphics Card problem...
It spins (the fan), I unplugged and replugged it, still the same thing...
Should I try with another GPU?
It was connected before on my old setup in the same way and it worked (the 2 PCI-E connectors on it)
Why is that not surprising?

You said "no display" and "no signal".
Are you using the same cable to connect the GPU to the screen?
Could you try a cable like SVGA? (old connectors).
Was it previously isolated or connected with another one?

So she was isolated, she still is...
I'm already using VGA (the monitor only has that kind of input), I tried using a DVI to VGA adapter from my GPU but it does the same thing.
--
It is hard to fail, but it is worse never to have tried to succeed...

The screen is still the same??
Did you take the GPU apart and examine it from all angles to see if it was damaged during handling??

The screen yes, an Asus 19" Wide (LCD) with VGA connector only. A good screen nonetheless!
And yes I checked my GPU from all angles... it's perfect! And during the assembly/disassembly I was careful about static electricity, you never know...
I've already had issues with this GPU, it won't take a MHz of overclocking at all... maybe I should send it back to get it replaced?

I'm going to try with the 8500GT that's on this PC.. If I don't respond, it's normal..
Thanks for your help anyway ;)

Well...
With the 8500GT, it does the same thing...
I just connected my GTS250 to the PCI-Ex16 port N°2, and miracle, I have an image on the screen!!!! The only problem is that the startup screen tells me to connect my GPU to port 1 if I'm not doing SLI....
What should I do? Should I buy a second GTS250? Or should I change the motherboard?

Well... I'm going to buy a second GTS250 and install it alone; if it does the same thing, I'll do an SLI and see what happens... Otherwise, I'll have to buy a new motherboard since it will actually be the PCI-Ex16 port No. 1 that's faulty...
Thanks anyway!
