LG screen issue "power saving mode" Solved

Question

Hello,
I have a living room computer that worked very well for a few years, but one day when I tried to turn it off and back on, the screen displayed power saving mode and went into sleep mode, and since then I haven't been able to get it to work again.. my screen is an LG and it's new, so the problem doesn't come from it. I'm not very good with computers, so there you go. Thank you in advance.

Hi, I have the same problem. Everything works normally except when I use games like WoW, League of Legends. My screen turns black, 'power saving mode', and I have to cut the power to restart the PC. ???

Hello,
I had a case quite similar to your problem. I have a 23' LG Flatron screen, and I thought the issue was with the screen itself, but surprise! I tried another screen, and there it was, exactly the same bug. I discussed this with a friend who's an IT guy, and he told me it could either be a safety feature triggering from the motherboard or a graphics card problem. When I got home, I opened my tower, removed the graphics card, blew it out with compressed air, and I also took out the BIOS battery and the power connector for the motherboard. I put everything back together, and miracle of miracles, it worked. If by any misfortune your PC is still under warranty and you can't open it, try changing the connection type—if you're using HDMI, try DVI or VGA.
Test that and let me know how it goes. It worked for me, so there’s no reason it shouldn't work for you.

Well then,
Since it seems you don't know much about this, I will explain in detail.
1. Normally, on one of the two sides of your tower, you should have a sliding panel (there may be screws), remove that one.
Then

2. Disconnect the graphics card: at the place where you plug in the cable to connect your screen inside the PC, you'll see a card (graphics card) embedded in what we call a motherboard, are you following me so far?
There should be a little plastic piece at the base of the card that is used to remove it (be careful not to press on a component). Press on it and the graphics card will disengage from the motherboard, then you just need to pull it out. (Don't forget to disconnect the cables from your graphics card.)

3. Remove the BIOS battery: on your motherboard, you have a small component that looks like a watch battery but is much wider. Remove it.

4. Disconnect the power supply from the motherboard: to the left of your motherboard (most of the time), you should have a large white or transparent connector that looks like a big rectangle (normally you can't mistake it, it's the largest connector).

5. Finally, blow a big puff of air in there or take a small brush and a vacuum cleaner and remove what you can. You just need to put everything back in place and it should work normally.
