After setting it up, when I try to send an email, the following error shows up: 0x800CCC78

Hello,
this problem occurs for no rational explanation!!
Solution (in my case which should be quite general): in Outlook 2007 - go to Tools then Account Settings, select the account, go to More Settings, Outgoing Server tab, check My Outgoing Server requires authentication, check: Use same settings as my incoming mail server., then confirm and exit.
This has resolved the issue on my different accounts. (I'm using Orange)

This problem only occurs when sending messages with Microsoft Outlook Express. It indicates that the address of one of the message's recipients is incorrect.

Bah pour moi, c'est impossible d'envoyer un mail à ma mère sur son travail, ça me renvoie Remote MTA siginternet2.ville-lehavre.fr : diagnostic SMTP : 550. Je ne sais pas pourquoi ça fait ça, c'est peut-être parce qu'ils ont interdit l'envoi d'emails venant de l'externe à son boulot.

You need to go into the account settings, then on the server "server requires authentication" click on settings and select to log in using: enter the username and password of the current operator.
The incoming server stays the same but the outgoing server in case of an error must be:
mail."current operator"."country"
smtpauth.current operator."country" >>> not forgetting to check that my server requires authentication.
