Hello,
For the past few weeks, my Facebook account has been disabled. I have been sending emails every day, and finally, I received a response yesterday stating that my fake name was problematic. I was instructed to reply to the email specifying my real last name.
However, just a few minutes ago, I received an email asking me to send a scan of my ID. They guarantee that after verification, they will destroy the scan. Of course, I won't do that; I find it very... dangerous, and I'm honestly surprised.
Has this happened to you? Did you send a scan of your ID? Is there any other way I could recover my account?
Thanks in advance.

Facebook sometimes requests identification to confirm that the account you are trying to access truly belongs to you. This happens, for example, if people have reported the account as being impersonated.
The entire process can be fairly quick if you do it correctly from the start.
See here how to do it and which identification documents are required:

Does anyone have an opinion on this issue from a legal standpoint? I had the same problem, and I would like to know if a site like Facebook has the legal right to ask for our ID card, what does the CNIL say about it... Can a website, just like a police officer, ask us for our ID card?
You are the victims of a person who reported you as identity thieves on FB or elsewhere, so FB is questioning the authenticity of your account and is asking you to prove your identity.
cc I have the same problem, it asks me to scan my ID, of course I haven't done it! I can no longer access it but I am still visible on Facebook. How can I deactivate my account or recover it please, thanks!
cc I'm writing to you because I was able to unblock my Facebook actually I had received messages from Facebook on the email address I registered with then I took a picture of my Navigo pass where only my photo and name are visible then I sent it as an attachment and they unblocked me the same day so no need for an ID.
Hello everyone! I know I'm a bit late, but I'm experiencing the same problem!
Have the people who sent their ID finally regained access to their account, or are they still waiting?
Thank you for responding because I really don't know what to do anymore...
Thanks

Hi,
They can indeed ask for proof for fake account names or other reasons, in this case an ID card... Otherwise, apart from dealing with Facebook to recover your account, there is no other solution.

Configuration:
Windows Seven, Intel Core I7, Ati Mobility Radeon HD 5730 1GB dedicated graphics card, 1420GB hard drive, 6GB DDR3 RAM
There's no need to have a Tiger in your computer if there's a donkey behind the screen... Or a penguin for Linux users ;)

no blaster... they don't have the right...
certainly, we are asked to put our true identity, but they don't have the legitimacy to verify it! that's what is perfectly outrageous!
after all, I'm not saying that it's unfair that they blocked my account... what I'm saying is that their way of handling this is perfectly scandalous.

I went to the gendarmerie to have them check, and it was indeed FB that made the request. It's probably someone with bad intentions who reported my account. But it really disgusted me, so yes, I closed my FB account. When I went there, they told me they hadn't received any complaints about that.
I don’t want to influence your choice, but if you give your number, you will receive a security number via SMS to enter on the site afterwards. After that, it's up to you; unfortunately, I was disgusted by it, and I won’t be re-registering.

I sent them a scan of my ID, and all they did was deactivate my account. I can't even find my account on Facebook anymore.
I just received a response to my email after they blocked my account. It's so crazy and dangerous at the same time. More than the police!!! It feels like dealing with a public administration!!!
Here is their email (their response): I had such a good laugh. I will create another account period.
Hi,
Unfortunately, we can't assist you until you reply and attach identification that verifies the name submitted in your request.
Please attach a copy of one government-issued ID (ex: driver's license or passport) or two documents from a respected institution or business. Together these documents must show your full name, photo, and date of birth.
Some examples of acceptable documents include:
- School or work ID
- Utility bill
- Marriage license
- Legal name change paperwork
- Credit card (with the number blacked out)
- Birth certificate
If possible, save this file as a JPEG and cover up any personal information that we don't need to verify your identity (ex: address, license number). We also recommend sending your attachments over a secure connection. Find out more here: https://www.facebook.com/help/?page=148993491850191
Note that we won't be able to assist you until we receive the proper documents.
Thanks,
The Facebook Team

I also have a problem with Facebook. My account has been blocked for a week now. I need to provide a phone number, but the problem is that I don't see the need to give one, especially since I don't own a mobile phone. And if I were to provide any random number, I find that a bit dangerous as well.
To try to unblock my account, I went to 'help' and found a page that would allow me to recover my account, but like you, it asks for an ID photo that I definitely won't provide. So now I don't know what to do; all the proposed help is useless to me, fearing to give confidential information to just anyone.
So to answer your questions, I don't see what solutions I could offer you... I hope you can manage to unblock it, goodbye.

I called the gendarmerie and they told me that normally it shouldn't be a problem unless it's something new. He said that I shouldn't risk anything as long as "support" is mentioned in the email address. I should definitely keep the FB email for "just in case," but normally, nothing will happen. I must absolutely not post photos that aren't of me. That reassured me a bit. I'm not sure if it's better to close FB or not, though.
Good evening. It's been a week since my account has been blocked by FB because I put a pseudonym instead of my name.. So they are asking for an ID.. I won't send it to them because with everything that's going on, I'm being cautious... FB is not essential to me! But I'm really upset because I've lost lots of photos? What have you done? Has your account been reactivated? Thank you in advance.
Hello, how do we resend a photo of our ID card? ^^ Because my name, etc. was not clear enough, so I had to redo a scan, but it's complicated to resend because it always says pending --' when I try to log in
Thanks
Thanks
I have the same problem as you for a few days now. What should I do?
It says Thank you, your request has been sent!

Please note that contacting us and sending your ID multiple times will not result in a faster response from us. Your request is processed in the order it was received.

Thank you for your patience.
While I’m trying to resend my ID in better quality and still nothing, it’s frustrating, especially since I work with my account...
Please reply as soon as possible if you have managed to recover your Facebook.

Hello Meki
I experienced exactly the same thing a few days ago, but there’s no way I'm sending a scan of my ID: it’s an infringement of identity, they shouldn’t control us like this as if we were at the police station when this is just a social network (which is supposed to be for leisure at its core!)
I find it disgraceful on Facebook's part. Now that people need their Facebook accounts to feel socially relevant, they allow themselves to take all sorts of liberties to force users to submit to their will.
In short, there’s no way I’m playing their game. This behavior has actually disgusted me with Facebook and I don’t even want to participate in all of this anymore.

Hi Laure, I completely agree with you, asking for a scan of the ID without providing any other means to contact them is total madness! It shows how dependent we are on Facebook! I’m really bothered about losing contacts since I don’t have everyone’s email address, but I don’t want to participate in this either! I thought it was related to my account name which was "Alice Wonderland", and I wondered if it was because the name is protected due to the movie… To all of you: Was your name your real name?? Thanks
Hi Alice! I did some research and realized that all the "Alice Wonderland" accounts have been disabled... I guess it must be related to the intellectual property of the name that is likely protected, but I don't understand why they don't send a warning to change the name before suddenly cutting things off like that! Did you send your ID, or were you able to contact them?? I can't find a way to do it.. I don't plan to send a scan of my ID, but I would really like to recover my account with all my contacts!! Thanks for getting back to me if you have any news.
It means that what they are saying there: https://www.facebook.com/help/582999911881572 is false? And when the policeman says not to worry as well?
Hi everyone, I have the same problem; I cleaned my Chrome browser and there's no Facebook
I've been waiting for 4 days but nothing. If you have a solution, please contact me on my email

Yes, you're not wrong, but with everything I've read, it made me doubt. At the time, with what I read on Facebook, I thought I would do it, but then I regretted it. I didn't think it through enough. I don't know if it will change anything, but the account is deleted.
Meki, they can certainly ask. Even for the excerpt of your grandparents' birth certificates. But the real question is what you can actually concede to them... If your privacy has no value to the point of giving it up to anyone who asks, or if it is worth more than the meanness of these crooks.
Since when do we have to send really confidential information to Facebook when they constantly remind us to "be careful not to disclose our personal info"?
It's harassment, the desire to know everything about everyone. It's perverse and truly incomprehensible. Facebook is just a pathetic site meant to keep in touch. Not a means to classify people and individuals.
It's genuinely pointless to ask for a photo of the ID card, why not a bank transfer too?
Certainly to sell all this data very expensively to marketing companies that are going to flood you with spam and commercial offers by phone.
