[EPSON status monitor] Unable to display

Question

Hello everyone.

I bought an Epson Stylus DX3850 printer that works very well when connected directly to the PC. However, I have a WiFi home network and I am using a Linksys PSUS4 print server, which I have connected via USB. Printing works just fine, but the EPSON Status Monitor 3 utility gives an error.

My question is whether it is impossible to have this tool when going through a print server, which is inconvenient since we cannot see the ink levels, or if the problem is related to my configuration.

With my Stylus Photo R 245 printer, I can now view the ink cartridges on Vista after installing SSC Service Utility. I don't see any other solution. Best regards.

Simply install the software on the server!

It all depends on how this server works. If you can install the printer in lpr mode on it (printing via tcpip port), your manager should work too.  -- And ... Voila Voila Voila!

I have the same problem as you, did you manage to solve it? If so, I would be interested to know how.
I have reinstalled it twice, it works perfectly well but still no status monitor.

3 PCs on a network, one on Wi-Fi, NO MONITOR STATUS...

I managed to solve this problem by following the procedure below, under Win2000 Pro
1-complete uninstallation of Epson software (via "add/remove programs")
2-removal of the printer from the "printer" folder
3-deletion of the "3" folder according to the following path:
WINNT--)system32--)Spool--)Drivers--)W32X86--the "3" folder to be deleted is located here.
Note: if no other printer is declared, only the "3" folder should be in "W32X86". For my part, I also had a folder entitled "2", which I also deleted.
As a precaution to avoid any unpleasant surprises, before deleting this folder from the system, I made a copy.
So after this big clean-up and complete reinstallation with the EPSON CD, I recovered the famous "status monitor".

I also have a problem with Epson status 3. It tells me: bidirectional communication must be established to access the dialog box of controlled printers ?????????????????, what do we do ?????
It also tells me: EBAPI module necessary... I don't understand anything.
It worked great on XP and on Vista there is nothing (or I don't know how to do............)
If anyone can help me that would be great

Yes, and I used the installation CD provided by Epson. By the way, it is an Aculaser C900 Advance...

Here’s how I did it:
1 - I put in the CD provided by Epson: Epson AcuLaser C900,
it said everything went well.
I went to the Epson website to look for the update for Vista, I downloaded and installed it:
there I got a message: "your printer is not installed, please install it and try again"
the problem is that my printer is properly installed and in addition it prints (badly but it's better than nothing, I have a misalignment with the top of the page (larger margin at the top)).
The printer is connected to the computer via a USB cable (since there are no more COM ports on new computers).
I don't understand anything....................

hello I have almost the same problem. I bought a new PC and it has Vista on it, impossible to see the colors, their levels on my RX 420 printer. I can't replace the cartridge through the control panel, these functions are greyed out and don't work. I need to change a cartridge but I don't know which one. How can I find this function, please? Hi, I have a good and reliable EPSON Stylus D88 printer. Since I switched to VISTA, I can't display the status monitor 3. Does anyone have a solution??? Thanks for the replies.

I have the same problem with my Epson D68 and contrary to what Epson says
""go to the Epson site: esupport.epson-europe.com and follow the instructions by specifying the printer, its type, the computer management system... then download epson 32108eu.exe... and it will work!""

the status monitor appears greyed out and is not functional
