error 403 Solved

Question

Hello everyone!!

So, for a little while now, every time I log in, Internet Explorer opens to an error page (403) on a club-internet banner saying "no permission to access the server" or it opens to a page telling me "forbidden...... access control list".
I've seen on the forum that someone had the same problem and was told to check if there was a club-internet proxy.
Well, I don’t understand what that means so if someone could help me it would be really nice!!

Hello!
I haven't been able to open the "check my account" page on ameli.fr (social security) for a while now. I can access all other sections of the site except for this one. Currently, I am receiving the message "you are not authorized to view this page"
with HTTP error 403 - forbidden, while I can open the page on my friends' PCs. Knowing that the social security organization has made changes to its site, what should I do to resolve my issue? Thank you.

Look at which page Internet Explorer opens; it may not be the "normal" homepage for Club Internet. Otherwise, try going to Control Panel / Internet Options. Click on your connection and Settings. The second box is Proxy Server: logically, the "Use a proxy server..." box should not be checked.

Well, you see, I'm with Wanadoo, so my home page is wanadoo.fr and that's what it says in the Internet options, but when I connect, in the address bar it says wanadoo.fr but at the top of the page it shows error 403 with the page I've described, but with wanadoo.fr in the address bar!!
I may not be very clear there.......sorry

I went to the connection settings and I have 2 checked boxes that I don't quite understand. So I've checked the boxes for:

-do not use a proxy server for your local network (these settings do not apply to remote access connections) but I have a remote access connection
-do not use a proxy server for local addresses

but if I go to "advanced" it shows proxy.club-internet.fr
my Internet Explorer's provider is provided by club-internet (I don't know why it's written)

Hello, I had the same problem and I solved it:

Go to Control Panel
Then to Internet Options
Next, on Connections (at the top) then network settings
Finally, uncheck the box Use a proxy server for your local network!!

There you go, launch Internet Explorer and it's all good.

Well, did you do what Titou's message (the one just before yours) says? That's what I did and it worked, I unchecked the box for the proxy server (in internet options - connections tab - network settings).
If it doesn't work, I don't know what it's due to, sorry (I'm not a pro!)

hello  I'm glad to finally be able to help someone on a forum. Indeed, it works; you just have to uncheck the box that says use a proxy server... It worked on the first try.

well as far as I'm concerned: same problem HERE TOO, THE SOLUTION IS NOT WORKING FOR ME!!??: yet, all the boxes regarding the proxy, in the network settings, are unchecked?!!

Maybe it's due to a small difference from your resolved case: I'm using Firefox instead of Internet Explorer

Does anyone know how to help me??

Use Firefox, you don't need to uninstall Internet Explorer, trying it is adopting it.
It's like being a horse and having your blinders and bit taken away...
If the error persists afterwards, no worries, you will have taken a step forward with Firefox.

Hello ludojom,

for Firefox it's the same principle as for IE except that you have to go to the Firefox options:
tools -> options. There you click on the network tab then the settings button and you can add your local address in the input titled "no proxy for".

Hello everyone !!
I also have a problem with the 403 error, but it only applies to my bank's website (which is a bit annoying) and it occurs both with Firefox and IE7. The message is "FORBIDDEN you don't have permission to access / on this server.
Strangely, other PCs connected to the same livebox can access it !!
If someone could help me it would be great !!

I just solved the problem at home by adapting some of the answers given here.

No matter the browser, the problem stems from a proxy issue anyway.

For Firefox, you need to go to > Options > Advanced > Network > Settings > check "Automatically detect proxy settings for this network."
