Hello,
I just downloaded the latest version of VLC, as WMP was too resource-intensive.
However, no matter how much I adjust the graphic equalizer and save my settings, it resets as soon as I close VLC. I have to redo it every time I listen.
Does anyone have a solution to save my equalizer settings?
Thanks in advance
Configuration: Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Mozilla Firefox 2016
Avast! 4.8 Family
Microsoft Office 2007
HP 6715b / PackardBell desktop

Hi, I just succeeded so I'm sharing my solution:
First, go to the equalizer, then adjust your preferred settings. Below each vertical bar, you have the parameter in Hz and in dB. It's the dB that interests us, so set this window aside with your settings.
Then go to Tools > Preferences > at the bottom, check "all" > in audio > Filters > Equalizer:
In "Gain of different bands, enter the dB values for each bar except the very first one which will be saved automatically.
So as I was saying, to enter your dB values, just separate them from each other with a space.
Ex (for me):
0 -3.8 -7.1 -10.9 -13.3 -12.4 -8.4 -4.0 -1.6 0

It's very simple:
1-Open the equalizer settings assistant. If you don't know how: launch VLC
-> Tools -> "Effects and Filters List" (or just press Ctrl E).
2-Check the box "Enable", then make your adjustments (this adjustment can be made while playing music or video)
3-Check the box "Write the process ID to a file", then click close
4-Go to Tools -> Preferences and check "All"
5-In the "Audio" section in the left menu, go to Filters - > Equalizer
There in the "Gain of different bands" field, you will see the values in decibels of your settings as you chose them. VLC has taken care of writing it for you when you completed step 3.
Finally click save at the bottom, and that's it.

Same as you, chanarchiste, no responses on the VLC forum... In fact, it seems to me that there is a bug... The record function doesn't work either, and this with the three chosen methods: equalizer, parametric equalizer where the 10 frequency bands are actually missing, and finally graphic equalizer filters checkbox then record, nothing either. This record checkbox simply doesn't work at all.
No solution for the moment...
