Hello,
I have a CANON MV700 camcorder. I just bought a laptop (Windows 7) on which I cannot install the 1394 card. Therefore, I bought a CMP-USBVG5 KONIG adapter to capture video. I connect my camcorder to this adapter and then launch the PINNACLE software. The problem I am encountering is that my PC does not recognize the camcorder.
Can you find a solution to my problem? Thanks to everyone.
Configuration: Windows 7 / Internet Explorer 7.0

Dear Sylvie,
Please check if your CMP-USBVG5 KONIG came with drivers for Windows 7 (which is not always the case).
In other words, the CMP-USBVG5 must first be recognized by Win 7, and then it will work correctly.
To do this, check in your Device Manager if you see a USB-video type device.
Then, and it is strongly recommended, do not use Pinnacle, as it is not certain that it works with the CMP-USBVG5. But you should have received capture software with your hardware.
For the Win 7 drivers for the CMP-USBVG5 KONIG, it's here:

Thank you, indeed the drivers for Windows 7 were not provided, I had to install them this morning. My problem still persists, the camcorder is not recognized.
Did you enter an activation key when installing Ulead?
This key (a successive code of letters and numbers) is indicated either on the main packaging or on the small paper sleeve of the CD-ROM.
I don’t quite understand the issue, as the installation cannot be completed without this code unless you entered an incorrect code.
Try reinstalling (uninstall first if necessary) the Ulead software using this key.
I will come back later after personally checking if Ulead installs without this activation key and if I receive the same message in that case.

After checking, the Ulead version provided by Konig with its box is a trial version only. If you have already installed it before, it is no longer active after 30 days.
So I correct my previous post by noting that you did NOT normally receive an activation key with this product.
Now, not all is lost; I think some versions of Pinnacle should work.
It is important to understand that the issue with this Konig box is that it was NOT originally intended for Win 7 or Vista 64. They released a driver, but since Windows varies from machine to machine, it's not straightforward.
My advice, encouraging you to be patient, is to do this in order:
1/ Have the drivers for Windows 7 on hand (they must not be compressed, so no ZIP, RAR, etc.)
2/ Uninstall everything related to the Konig box, having disconnected it.
3/ Restart your PC
4/ Check for all Pinnacle updates and install them if possible.
5/ Check if you have the latest version of Direct X (see Microsoft’s website; it should work from version 9 onward)
6/ If you installed a Pinnacle and/or Direct X update, RESTART your PC
7/ Insert the Konig USB into a USB port.
8/ DO NOT LET Windows automatically install the drivers; do NOT install ANYTHING, close all windows prompting you to install anything
9/ Go to the Start Menu (the Win logo) and then to Devices and Printers.
You should see your hardware labeled USB Device or something similar with a YELLOW TRIANGLE (indicating an issue).
Right-click in an empty area and choose Device Manager.
10/ There you should have an unrecognized device or hardware. Right-click and choose to update the driver, search for a driver on my computer AND specify the path by clicking Browse -->> that’s at POINT 1 above.
Confirm the installation of the driver
To test, independently of any Pinnacle constraints, download a very small capture software of +/- 200k (no editing, just capturing) called AMCAP, here for example: https://www.clubic.com/telecharger-fiche49088-amcap.html
If everything works well with this software, the BOX IS PROPERLY installed and works perfectly on your computer.
If Pinnacle does not work, check if the version is compatible.
You will need to find a capture editing software that suits you or, with some searching, find an unbridled Ulead version (easy).

Hello, I'm not sure if this key is compatible with this software?
Follow the instructions
Since it’s a MiniDV, use the S-VHS or composite output
For my part, in my overview, I warned about the choice of cheap equipment; I'm copying it for you to see if it can help
Copy VHS tapes or 8mm Hi8 analog camcorder to PC
You need an external box that supports "hardware" digital encoding of analog source films and a USB connection (relieving the computer's processor) to the computer. I recommend reliable and widely available hardware like Dazzle, specifically the "Video
DVD Creator Platinum" standard model; other models with varying functionality and software may also suit you, but be sure to check the specifications and what you need. Generally, the conversion format is MPEG2 (4GB per hour) that you can use to burn a DVD compatible with all standalone players. The package includes Pinnacle editing software, somewhat limited depending on the model (I use a "Mowie Box" with the advanced editing software Studio 11); you can use it or not to "arrange" your videos before burning a DVD or saving the files
There are other brands, but avoid cheap products that cause headaches PS: I emphasize that the quality of the result can only be judged on a television screen
A link: https://www.cherchons.com/dossier/dazzle.html
PS: For a VCR and a scart output, you may need a scart adapter with an in-out switch and RCA connections for sound and S-VHS or yellow RCA composite.

Hello,
I just received my konig cmp usbvg5. I am using Windows 7 (new PC) and I can't manage to get the konig working.
I have installed the Windows 7 driver (it's on the CD) and Ulead. My problem is as follows. At first, it worked but in black and white...
I uninstalled everything and repeated the process, but it gets stuck when I launch Ulead, I get a window with a message and it doesn't start.
The message is "Limit users can not try this product, you can use normally after successful activation."
Do you know any free alternative software to Ulead that's compatible with Windows 7?
For your information, when I launch it with Windows Live Movie Maker (included in Windows 7), I manage to capture by pretending the usbvg5 is the webcam... but again, it's in black and white!
During the installation of Ulead, I do select standard PAL/SECAM and the konig is connected to my Sony Hi8 camcorder (in PAL).
Does anyone have an idea to solve my problem?

As I wrote earlier, the Ulead provided by Konig is just a trial version, given the release date of this device, it is highly likely that the Ulead included is not operational at all.
The fact that you are capturing in B/W, even with another software, indicates either a cabling issue (for example, a peritel/S-video adapter not working) or more likely a setting issue with the capture stick, which is probably set to NTSC.
To adjust it, you should find it among printers and scanners, or in the device manager.
Once you have located where Windows 7 has stored your USB stick (it obviously needs to be plugged in), right-click on it > Properties > You should see a setting regarding capture properties, then video and there you should have all the standards supported by the Konig device, set it to PAL 50Hz.

Thank you Mr. Yoyo,
I know Ulead is a 30-day trial version, when I first installed it, it worked (in black and white), the same day on the second installation (after uninstalling of course) the problem appeared.
For the connection, there is no error, it comes directly in RCA (no SCART) on the Konig (white to white, yellow to yellow, and red to red).
Regarding the properties, I had explored this aspect but there is no possibility to adjust the video settings. According to the information, "this device is functioning properly."

It's a pity that you can't start Ulead, as it may prevent access to the additional options of the capture device.
Download a small capture software called AMCap; it's in English, but I think with it you'll have access to the properties, including the standards PAL, NTSC, SECAM, etc.
I'm still convinced that your device is in NTSC, that's very often how it's delivered.
