Trio CD 565 Philips: 2 devices down?

Solved

Hello,

My Philips Trio CD 565 phone has 2 of its 3 handsets that do not work anymore: no access to the menu, and nothing visible on the screen. The batteries are OK, there is some backlight when I press a button, then it goes out. Do you have any idea how to reactivate these 2 handsets?

Thank you,
Olivier

Yes, mine is to fix it!
    Here is the solution:
Open the phone and desolder the QUARTZ component.
It is easily identifiable, it is 1 cm long and of crom? color.
Moreover it is written on it: A13.824.25
It’s a 13MHz, you can find it on almost every electronic device
The replacement remains, but be careful the phone’s printed circuit board where it is fixed is very fragile, DO NOT FORCE!!!!
It must come out by itself.
There you go, thanks for letting me know about any problem and success.

PS: once desoldered, or if the old quartz breaks, do not solder the new part immediately.
Do a test first to see if it works, and that your phone finally turns back on

      Hello,
Two handsets are dead. I want to embark on the adventure, but I have a lot of trouble finding the component. Do you have an address, a distributor?
Does it require a special soldering iron? what alloy filler metal?
How to remove the housing besides the 2 screws?
      Thank you for your help
      Regards

Thanks! but I’m a DIYer; I’m unable to take it apart??!! I’ve removed the two screws on the bottom but I can’t disassemble it, can’t find another hidden screw under a button or a tab to unclip???... who could help me with the disassembly?

      Thanks in advance.

It’s enough to insert it on the side of the front and to unclip the front panel with a very thin screwdriver; see you later.

    Good evening

I have exactly the same problem with CD 565, namely two devices out of three are defective and a flashing light for a few seconds. For your information, I am using an SFR ADSL line with a Club-Internet box. I’m looking for a solution on the net, without success for the moment

I have the same problem, and always with the extra handsets, never with the base: it’s happened three times now that I have the same breakdown: no solution, each time a replacement handset ordered!!!

I returned my devices to Gros Bill, result: non-repairable, they refunded me (5 weeks without a phone!!!) they told me they no longer made this model,
while looking, I saw they had it in a duo (I had bought a 4th phone at Fnac) so I bought the duo again for my Fnac phone service in 3rd andl.
until the next breakdown because these devices seem very fragile.

I’m in the same situation, 1 out of three is broken, I’ve tried non-rechargeable batteries without success, I’m hesitating about buying an additional handset, to be continued..

The same problem as well: one of the handsets isn’t charging the batteries. I was told I could just throw it away! After only 13 months of use. Bravo Philips!!! And on top of that they don’t have it in stock anymore.....

    Hello.
    same problem on CD565.
the LED blinks and from time to time the display lights up for 1 second when pressing a button.

I would have liked to know if a component has burned out and if so which one.
    I could replace it myself...

Don’t want to throw away a phone for a capacitor or a resistor that has failed...

Exactly the same problem for me with a device that is 12 months and 1 week old, and therefore refused coverage by the point of sale (Géant Casino) because the commercial warranty is 1 year (hello to the commercial sense of the store).

However, good news for anyone in this situation, because if Philips seems to have produced a bad batch, they guarantee the phone for 24 months.

The procedure is very simple: you just call their customer service at 0805 025 510 (toll-free) and Philips takes care of sending a new phone within 1 week (CD2851W/FR model in my case) without returning the old model, which you commit to depositing in a recycling center.

You just need to provide a scanned or photographed copy of the proof of purchase to upload on a link generated when opening the incident.

So if like you I was disappointed with the lifespan of this first device, I say bravo to Philips for the quality of their after-sales service and I think I will remain loyal to this brand because an industrial manufacturing accident can happen, what matters in the end is how you manage this incident and here it is top-notch.

    Ps: I don’t own Philips stock :)

I followed your recommendations by calling 0805 025 510 and I received a very favorable reception. After presenting my complaint, my Philips DECT CD5653S Trio phone set will be replaced for a similar product, without difficulty. THANK YOU for the information and Bravo Philips. P.S.: Me neither do I have any Philips stock :)

The legal warranty, contrary to what many believe, is two years from a few years ago, following an European directive translated into French law (Ordinance No. 2005-136 of February 17, 2005). The warranty is owed by the seller who will seek recourse against their own wholesaler, etc., up to the seller. When a merchant sends you directly to the manufacturer, they are in the wrong; you are free to refuse and demand the application of the law.

Effortless exchange for a newer Phillips model in under 15 minutes over the phone for a photo of the plaque with the serial number under the base.
There you go. Thanks Lucky Man for the info.

These telephone handsets must have hidden manufacturing defects.

thank you scarfays for the info.

however I get the impression that a certain level is required to replace the component. we're dealing with electronics......

for those who want to repair: we're talking about the “big” rectangular component with rounded corners

however I didn't really understand scarfays, if we remove it, does it work ?!?

    onoffbenny!

The charging bases are not bases but simple battery chargers; they do not communicate with the handsets and cannot scatter them.
The fault is known to Philips but not to the series... Try negotiating with your seller.

Me too I have the same problem!!! I bought a first trio 2 and a half years ago. After 6 months one handset no longer charged; the whole trio was replaced. 1 year later the phone bugged when the call log list was full. At Boulanger’s after-sales service, the proposed solution was to remove the batteries!!! and other responses: remember to delete the list of received calls before reaching 50 calls?! So for a while I thought about it…. Until the day when what was to happen happened…. Woe to me I forgot to delete THE LIST!!!! Then nothing works properly, I no longer have access to the directory, the numbers and names of callers no longer display. Even when I remove the batteries it doesn’t change anything. I tried to reset and there, worse than ever the welcome message in all languages scrolls and it’s impossible to validate with the OK button….. I can still receive calls… End, I will not buy Philips again, they screw us with their planned obsolescence!

Unfortunately, the list of non-empty calls is not the cause of the shutdown.
For me, like many others, I can no longer see the menu.

Well, my turn to have the same problem!

Nothing to do, nothing on the screen of this Philips phone. I had paid quite a lot for it anyway.
The warranty was indeed two years, but the problem occurred just one week later!!! (...the lifespan is well calculated lol)

I’ve just ordered another one, from a less prestigious brand admittedly, but as it costs 14.60 euros, I don’t have much to lose this time...

      Hello.
I’ve picked up some Motorola phones again. I’ll see how long they’ll last.
It’s a pity that the directory isn’t in the database but is independent on each handset.

Same for me, I had a first combi break down (same symptoms). Then today a second one too! I fixed the fault by replacing the rechargeable batteries with regular ones; I had a battery fault displayed on the screen, so I put back the correct batteries and it works again!
I tried the same trick with the first combi but to no avail :( !

Thank you for your reply, unfortunately I had to report everything to "gros bill" (big bill), 5 weeks without a phone just to be told after my follow-up that they no longer do it and that I had to buy a new one with the credit!!!
I had tried other batteries, without success.
Philips or not, these Chinese-made products, it's really a disaster!!

Very disappointed as well with the reliability of these phones. The first one stopped working after a light impact (a 50 cm fall) and the second one just broke down as well, really very poor quality.
the device is flashing but nothing else. Make sure to keep the original packaging to activate the warranty, otherwise you will be forced to buy another one like me.

      Hello,

I had bought a trio plus two additional handsets a year ago. Of the 5 handsets, 3 no longer work because they no longer recharge, including one from the purchase...

Unreliable phones to avoid at all costs..

I have exactly the same problem with the same devices bought at Boulanger: both devices failed at a two-week interval. I changed the rechargeable batteries but nothing helps. The devices are no longer under warranty since September. They only worked for 15 months. It must therefore be a manufacturing defect in these devices.
How can I assert my rights in this case?

For those who still think electronic devices are made somewhere other than China or Asia in general, it's time to open your eyes!! Philips did not extend its warranty to 2 years; it's a European law that obliges manufacturers and sellers to refund/repair/replace a defective device!!

I have a similar problem, my first phone broke (I have 4) and I had it replaced under warranty. I put the phone and the new charger back in the same place and after 3 or 4 weeks I found it in the same state as the previous one.
    Factory defect?
Problem with distance causing its emission level to rise and eventually it dies? Because the one that broke is the farthest from the base on the ground floor, while the implicated phone is on the third floor.
In short, both of them have "crashed" and the best we can get on the screen is the small battery charging symbol.

Hello, same here, two out of three handsets are faulty! The handset is blinking and nothing happens anymore. Mine were bought on 10/12/2009 for €85!!! Is that what you call a quality product, right?

After presenting my complaint, my Philips DECT phone CD565S duo set will be replaced, without difficulty, by an analogous product without a receipt—just a photograph of the back of the device with the serial number is enough for them to have proof that it was manufactured less than two and a half years ago. here's a quickly resolved problem, thank you Philips
