Hello,
I would like to know how to remove the message:
"Smart failure predicted on hard disk
WARNING : Immediately back up your data and replace your hard disk drive. A failure may be imminent.
Press F1 to Continue
upon startup of my computer?
Rest assured I have made a backup of my data but as long as the hard drive works it will work and I would like to get rid of this unbearable message at every startup!!
Thank you all
Configuration: Windows XP / Firefox 3.5.13

Hello
This is done in the BIOS under the hard disk configuration (IDE and SATA), but seeing this message, be very careful because your disk is on the verge of becoming completely unusable.
The SMART function is designed to give this kind of warning because it detects any serious faults on the disk.
Advice: Make a complete backup of your important files and documents either on CD/DVD or USB drive.
And buy yourself another hard drive.

It has been a year that I've been carrying this message on my mini HP, and my PC works very well; I think it's a software bug.
Hi,
some BIOS allow disabling this Smart function, we'll have to see if that's the case on your PC... I have an HP brand PC that displays this message every time it starts up and there's nothing possible in the setup to disable Smart. How long will it take for the hard drive to be formatted to see if that solves the problem...

Okay, I've already formatted it 3 times with a Windows reset (legally with the installation CD for the curious) but still the message; however, it works very well!!!
If others have solutions, I'm interested.
Thank you.

Hello
Can you disable the message! Yes, the druid is right (for the BIOS) but on the other hand, if you have this kind of situations BE CAREFUL! Windows Legal or not! Your hard drive is about to fail!
No possible solution! "Entecat" Take your chance, I warned you!

Hello, I am adding myself to the long list of victims of Smart. I get this message at every startup and about every hour. However, my disk seems to be in excellent health (according to HD tunes that I have checked several times). Please, do not tell me to make backups; anyone can do that, and my important data is multi-copied. But I must admit that I would really like to know how to get rid of this **************** message of *****!
I have rummaged through the BIOS of my Asus X53s without finding anything. I have read in several places that it is possible to remove this message, but no one says how... and I can't find it myself. I should add that I do not take the message lightly, and if the disk in question fails, it is far from being a disaster (it's not my main PC); however, the return of this message makes its use unbearable, much more than a simple hard drive error could.
