Hello,
Not long ago, my computer had the issue of: NTLDR is missing. I then resorted to the Windows installation CD to repair it, but since then, every time I log into my computer (which runs Windows XP Pro), a window opens and displays the following:
The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the 'Status' disk and click OK.
You have the option to click OK or Cancel, and not knowing which CD or installation it refers to, I click Cancel, and it always takes a good minute before I manage to close it. As I mentioned, this problem has persisted since I repaired Windows. It's not really serious, but it's very annoying and it has led to complaints from a family member accusing me of having put a lot of viruses on the computer, and blah blah blah... So it would be great if someone had an idea of what this is, thank you very much!

To repair XP, you had to change the boot order in the BIOS and set the CD drive as the first option.
You left things like that, and now the BIOS is trying to boot from a CD that it can't find.
Set the hard drive as the first boot priority. -
Thank you very much for the response. I changed it, but the problem persists.. :S

Good evening
there is still only one option for first position, which you can change, hdd, cdrom, dvd rom, usb for recent bios
first there is only one, you choose the one you want
in principle, leave the cd/dvd rom in first position and auto detection if the bios allows it
in case of a problem requiring the rescue disk, there is no manipulation to do
if your bios has the usb option, put it in second position (now more used than cds)
and in third your hdd (hard disk) each change must be validated by enter and to exit use save:exit and validate, some bios additionally require confirmation where you have to type y for yes, or n for no if you put no the bios returns to the default as before
the message indicates that the installed version is not compliant with the original (pirated) or that the version is from another system for example origin vista basic and reinstalled vista premium
kind regards -
Thank you very much, azetec, because your hypothesis about the pirated version is the most plausible. The person who bought my PC is a real incompetent when it comes to computers (even though he pretends otherwise) and probably bought just anything from a computer shop that seems untrustworthy, and the Windows XP edition I have is indeed not an original but a burned CD that the seller provided us. The problem probably comes from there. Knowing this, is there a way to fix this issue?

Good evening
Yes, I know the repairers. They are the same everywhere.
I hope the computer will be in good condition and is not cobbled together haphazardly.
I wish you good luck and see you soon. -
Hi
don't click on cancel.
put the Windows CD in the drive and click ok to see.
check in startup if you have something strange to delete.

Hello, I think I have discovered what my problem really is, after some more in-depth research. I believe the issue is related to an incomplete installation of a program. To be more specific: I had installed Microsoft Office, and I was asked to restart to complete the installation. But when I restarted, my PC froze and I had to repair it using the Windows installation CD. Once that was done, I regained access to the computer, and Microsoft Office is working, but in my opinion, this program is the problem. So, I am trying to uninstall it... but oh, surprise, I can't because there is already an installation in progress, namely the thing I'm trying to remove. So I follow what I found during my research: install Windows installer clean-up utility, but once again, an installation is in progress... I therefore installed it on another PC and copied the installation folder onto a USB stick to transfer the Windows installer clean-up utility, already installed, to my computer. I launch it, it works, but when I try to delete Microsoft Office, it says:
Run-time error '-2147024882 (8007000e)': System Error &H80004005 (-2147467259). Unspecified error. And [OK]. So, no way to uninstall Microsoft Office... Does anyone have a solution, please!? -

Yes yes.. But well, forget it. This morning, I found out that my father-in-law took the computer to the repair shop. That idiot had to do it just when I had found the problem: the jerk, who thinks he knows everything (for example, he believes that during peer-to-peer, people come into your computer to steal files..), was so sure when he said that a virus was attacking the computer. But anyway, as I said, it's over. I sincerely thank you for your valuable help, which was in vain, and I apologize for the time I made you waste.

Little UP although it is largely too late and not to respond to our dear "antho17_2" who has apparently found the solution, but rather for any people passing by searching for a solution to this problem:
It seems that this is due to HP printers and the driver installed on the computer having an error, why, how I couldn't tell, but it is usually enough to insert the installation CD of the printer and, if that doesn't suffice, to reinstall the driver.
