I can scan but can't print?!

Good evening,
I have a Lexmark 6200 printer that I just managed to install on Vista (I had some trouble).
When I try to print a page from my PC, I get this message: "Communication not available; the printer cannot communicate with the computer; enable bi-directional communication."
That's what I did, I went to printer properties...Ports... I checked "Enable bi-directional management mode"....Apply...OK.
After another attempt to print, I got the same message, and upon checking the printer properties, I found the option in question "Enable bi-directional management mode" UNCHECKED!!
As for the scanner, it works well since then.
