Computer shutting down during streaming videos

Hello everyone,

Here is my problem:

My laptop (see the configuration below) shuts down by itself after a somewhat variable amount of time (between 5 minutes and 40 minutes but sometimes not at all...) when I watch a video streaming (especially on Megavideo but also on replay sites like M6 replay).
The problem worsens if I put the video in full screen.
On the other hand, I have no problem when playing a DVD or a video stored on the hard drive.
I tried updating the drivers but according to my computer, everything is up to date.

Does anyone have any advice for me, please?
Thank you!

Configuration: Windows Vista Home Premium / Firefox 3.5.2 / Laptop: ACER Aspire 7720 / Graphics card: Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset Family / 3 GB of RAM / Intel Core 2 Duo CPU

Maybe the problem comes from hardware acceleration

    right-click => properties => troubleshooting => hardware acceleration
Try lowering the slider and see if that changes anything.

It may also be due to a bad connection with the screen (this often happens with laptops)

Try lowering the screen resolution to see if that changes anything.

      Hi Robin
I tried what you suggested, but the button to modify hardware acceleration is grayed out and it states that "the current display driver does not allow changes to hardware acceleration settings" ...

I will also try lowering the screen resolution.

      Thanks for the advice!
      See you soon

    Hello

I think it might be your graphics card that could possibly need replacing.

Did it do that when your computer was new?

My PC (Acer tower from 2010) shuts down abruptly since the change of the graphics card (ATI Radeon HD 7770). It shuts down after a few seconds while streaming videos (and this depends on the sites), after 15 minutes when playing games like Assassin's Creed, and after 30 minutes while watching DVDs.
The PC has been completely dusted, and the drivers for the graphics card, Adobe, Java, etc. have been updated. Nothing helps.
The IT technician had changed the power supply at the same time as the graphics card. He then installed a more powerful power supply and everything went back to normal. The issue was solely with the power supply; I haven’t had any problems since.
