Successfully resolved the problem "iaStor.sys file" by removing one of the memory sticks flagged as defective under Memtest.

Hi, when you reinstalled Windows did you format it or not?

Hi

iastor.sys is related to a SATA hard drive, isn't it?

I also have this problem, I installed the internet on my Fujitsu-Siemens PC and after a few minutes, it rebooted; when I restart the internet, it reboots too!
I wanted to reinstall XP from the provided CD, but the file iaStor.sys is missing, thank you for replying.

Hello

Was the driver provided to you with the SATA disk? If so, copy it from the CD onto a new floppy disk

Or go to the manufacturer's website for your motherboard's chipset and download the provided one, and put it on the floppy disk

And when your installation starts and you see at the bottom Press F6 to install SCSI or RAID driver ... etc., press that key and give the path to your floppy disk.

It should work. "Fingers crossed," I hope!

Could you tell me the name of your chipset and your hard drive?

Good evening Mr. Henry59;

I have the same problem: "Iastor file" missing at boot; and I can't download the Serial-ATA controller drivers for my motherboard, nor the Iastor file.

Can you help me?

Thank you

I have this problem too, but additionally, I have a central unit without a floppy disk drive. What can I do in this case?
Thank you.

Hello Fiona, the problem that arises is that you started the installation of Windows XP from the operating system; you were already under Windows when you inserted your CD and a window appeared asking you what you wanted to do. You clicked on "install Windows XP" and you know the rest.

To do it right, you need to leave your CD in the drive and keep tapping the space bar on your keyboard until you see the message on the screen "the installation program is inspecting the hardware configuration..."

From there, all the necessary files will be copied to your hard drive, and be sure not to press "F6" during the file loading process.

Next, choose to install XP, accept the license agreement, press escape to install a new copy of XP, delete the C partition (you will be asked to confirm twice), and finally install XP with a normal (long) formatting in NTFS.

Good luck with the rest.

Aragon.

Hello, I had the same problem with the file "iastor.sys" being missing or damaged. Even if you create a personal installation CD with the included drivers, to succeed, 1: download the latest driver for the ICHP8 from Intel's website 2: create your RAID 3: configure it in the BIOS 4: make a maximum partition of 30 GB. Personally, I spent over 20 hours on it with a buddy; we tried everything, and another friend of mine who repairs computers suggested that the Intel chip might not support the 500 GB of my RAID, so I made a 30 GB partition to format it in FAT32 and successfully install Windows. For those who have a P5B Deluxe, if you want to use the OC software under Windows, go into the BIOS to activate it; otherwise, it crashes. Basically, after printing the entire manual in French (160 pages), I’m still bitter about having had so many problems with this motherboard.

For your information, my system: E6600, P5B Deluxe, 2x1 GB Corsair CL5, 8800 GTX from XFX, two Seagate 250 GB 7200.10, Seasonic S12 600W

If anyone knows about OC and would like to give me the settings to reach 3 GHz, I would be very grateful. ;)

Same problem,

After trying to boot with a startup CD created by PE-Builder (thank you :)),
The following message appears:

File iaStor.sys not found. (the file iaStor.sys was not found)

Continue by pressing any key (press any key on the keyboard to...)

After some analysis, I understand that the file in question is missing, I would like to know how to prevent this crap.
Thank you in advance, my computer has been dead for 2 weeks.

Info: Fujitsu Siemens computer

Still no news on solutions?
So if I summarize: iastor.sys allows the use of the hard drive (Fujitsu) but during a reinstall it is not detected by the CD...
I still find it quite strong on the part of the manufacturer (and Windows too, by the way) not to resolve this issue.
Moreover, everything that touches the system32 folder causes the system to crash (like a disk scan, a spybot scan, an antivirus scan, a Windows update) so this is a serious problem anyway :P
The probably interesting question is: in what way is this file unstable and with what does it interact directly? (I really don't know much about it but maybe these are leads)
Apparently, it's not a matter of damaged files, nor scratched CDs or anything, but rather a hardware/software issue where there's some instability or I don't know what....
There you go

Solutions provided but "apparently not working":
_Creating an XP CD with nlite (but since it's based on your own configuration I don't see how it would work better than an existing version)
_Reinstalling the drivers

So here is a source full of links for enthusiasts http://forum.netexpertcomputer.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=3646&ARCHIVE=

There you go, I'm starting to crack gently so a break is in order. But still, Windows is quite strong!!!

No one has found solutions? Because I also have this problem and I admit that I'm starting to crack.

I'm trying to make progress on the issue, so now you have a choice: either you have (or should have) a Windows installation CD and a factory reset CD,
or, as I've heard, if you don't have a CD when you bought your PC, there might be a part of your memory that allows your system to restore itself by pressing a combination of keys. For that, refer to the manual.
You can also check out the manufacturer's website http://www.fujitsu-siemens.fr/home/products/notebooks/index.html, but I'm currently in the middle of this step, so I can't guarantee anything :P but on their site, you will find manuals, downloads, and maybe even some advice apparently...
I'm trying to keep you updated to help everyone solve this issue.

PS: I'm not an expert, just an amateur trying to solve problems :P

Hello, I have exactly the same problem after a simple restart. So I've tried:

- fix winxp but the provided CD is not a "BOOTABLE" CD
- Used a bootable CD but no menu asked to repair
- so I tried to reinstall Windows over it ===> failed
- Live CD knoppix (linux) ===================> failed
- Create a second live CD knoppix but by burning it more "slowly" ==> failed
- Create a live CD using my winXP CD + Pe builder then

message "the file iaStor.sys was not found"

This problem apparently occurs on Fujitsu Siemens, I have an AMD Athlon 64 dual-core processor
where could the hard drive be?????????

I'm really starting to crack as well with the money we put into this... and yet God knows that I take care of my PC...
Thank you in advance.

Enfin, on me dit même nolife. À plus à tous les gens.

Hello,

If the issue comes from the Fujitsu Siemens CD, you should consider performing an installation/repair from a Microsoft CD.
This is legal, as the original license number is retained.

See you later

same for me with an amilo pro V8010 ..

indeed by "spamming" the space bar, it prevents the message
"the file iaStor.sys was not found"

I manage to start the installation, but when it comes to choosing R, S or I don't know what ....
the laptop turns off, ''power off'' !!

Hello,
so since you're new, you should know this:
rather than coming to pollute the topic with "I have the same problem," "me too," etc., either wait to see how the solution to this problem evolves, or open a new topic, which gives you better chances of finding help...

Imagine the mess if several problems were addressed in the same topic; it wouldn't be possible to find your way around...

Regards.

Hello everyone!
I also had the issue with "iastor.sys" and I managed to fix it by taking the Windows 98 SE CD and overwriting everything else (XP...) by formatting the disk, rebooting, and then reinstalling XP! I know it’s lengthy, but it worked for me! I have an Amilo and everything is fine! The problem is finding a Windows 98 SE! Why does it work? Because 98 SE is much better than all the others since it was the beginning of Windows, go for it, it works! 0)

You simply need to go into the BIOS and set the hard drive to IDE, then proceed to install your Windows XP. Once the installation is complete, you need to install the SATA drivers by going to My Computer, then Manage, and Device Manager. Next, go back into the BIOS and set the disk to AHCI.

test=ok

Thank you and have a nice day.

Good evening,
I have tried all the indicated methods (testing the RAM, clicking on space, etc.....) but nothing works; yet I did a search and that d....n file is there, but this m...f... Siemens doesn't want to know anything. Sorry for these outbursts, but one wonders why they exist if it’s not to sell us their I won't even call it a PC.
