Hello everyone.
I’m reposting here because my problem is not resolved and I believe it’s more appropriate.
To summarize simply, for some time my computer has been starting up poorly.
The PC seems to turn on but the screen stays black.
I can sometimes hear it turning on, shutting down, and turning back on, etc., but the image remains black.
Sometimes the message "frequency 'out of range' 83k 156hz" appears on the screen.
After several restarts without changing anything (sometimes even on the first try, it’s not systematic), Windows starts up correctly.
What could this be due to? And how can I fix it?

Anyone?
I've noticed while reading other posts that this problem seems to be recurring. -

So, uninstall the drivers for your screen and graphics card
and you will perform a system restore to an earlier date
see you later

Good evening,
I have exactly the same problem, but I have never solved it, except that it didn't show: Frequency out of range.
This issue is really annoying; sometimes you have to wait more than 5 minutes before the screen displays an image.
See you later! -

Hi 140675
when your PC starts up properly, check the refresh rate of the display (standard 60 to 70 Hz)
did you install SP2???
otherwise, did the problem exist before with SP1???
see you

Well yes, I installed SP2, but it's been a while. And I haven't had any problems since (I don't know, several months)
No, the only modification I made was, when I was doing my security updates on Windows Update, to.....download the update for my graphics card from their website.....
I know it’s not good, I’ve been told that before, but I wanted to try....
Since then, I've only had problems:
-Can't turn on the screen
-Can't switch to 1024 without crashing
-Nice blue screen (The driver for your graphics card is stuck in an infinite loop)
-etc...
I reinstalled the original drivers for my card from the CD (It's a Dell) and eventually reinstalled the one from Nvidia from their website. That’s the one I've been using since.
Reading other posts, it seems that it could be related to the BIOS, but the only change I made was to change the driver (and do my Windows updates), can it really be related?
PS: For the frequency, when I go to display properties/advanced/screen, I have a refresh rate of 75hz. -
And how do I delete the driver for my screen
and see something afterwards to do a restoration? -

In the Device Manager, uninstall the drivers
by rebooting the PC, Windows will take its own by default
see you later

I've taken some time, old bison, but I'm responding:
The problem persists. Every time I start it, I have the same issue: sometimes I get a black screen, sometimes not.
In fact, I've been a bit more methodical. I started in safe mode, uninstalled my card through the device manager, removed the drivers, and even used Driver Cleaner. I deleted all remaining Nvidia folders. I restarted with the Dell installation CD inserted. Theoretically, this driver works. It's the one I've used for months.
And now, impossible. Same problem, if not worse. At least with Nvidia, I could turn on the PC once every four attempts. Now, nothing at all. I can't tell if it's the screen or the card; in any case, now with this driver, it's not working anymore?!!!
I had to reinstall the Nvidia driver, which gives me a completely stretched image.
If there are no traces of the drivers left and I reinstall the first one while still having the same problem, what could it be due to?
Does a graphics card driver modify the BIOS upon installation?
Could this problem persist after the driver is removed (the BIOS is modified and unstable)?
I really don't know anything about this, so I'm asking you for a bit more help

it's not because you install or uninstall a graphics card that your BIOS is modified
however, uninstalling does not remove all the .dll files
and the keys in the registry
there you need to delete them by searching for them
also with a regcleaner to clean up
with a good regcleaner, during the first use, you can have at least 50 lines that create chaos for you
see you

I'm already stealing enough all by myself -
ok, first of all, this has nothing to do with the BIOS (you bunch of newbies)
secondly, you can't change the damn frequency in safe mode
thirdly, stop talking nonsense when you don't know
thank you for your understanding -
Hello, instead of saying what we can't do, give us guidelines to follow in order to solve our problems... Thank you.
