Hello,
I'm worried because I can't find any effective answers to help me. Let me explain, when I got home from work yesterday, my friend pointed out that the app icon was showing a question mark and it was impossible to launch the application. This morning, when I turned on the computer, it was the same, so I put that icon in the trash and now I can't find how to reinstall it on my dock.
What should I do? How did this happen?
Thank you for your answers
Configuration: Mac OS X / Safari 531.21.10

But I no longer have that icon in the application! And I just realized that I no longer have the Word icon either! What's going on?

Hello, I had the same problem. I clicked on Finder and then went to "Applications". I found "Mail app". I double-clicked on it. Once done, I right-clicked on my icon that had returned to its location. I right-clicked on the blue stamp-shaped icon, then "Options" and "Keep in Dock". Everything is working again but after I restarted my Mac.

Hello
On your Mac, use the shortcut cmd + the letter N
Choose application.
Find the mail icon and drag it to your dock.

"oh damn" I don't have the Word software on CD, my uncle gave me his pack on a USB key and I didn't make a copy!!!
I also have the Office 2008 pack but I can't install it in French!
For the mail??? I just need to insert the Mac CD I got when I bought the iMac?
I did what you told me to check... but everything is fine according to the results of the assessment.

Hello
Has your friend not thrown it in the trash by any chance?
Are you really sure about your session?
If not, reinstall Microsoft Office from the CD.
And for Mail, you'll need to install it from the installation DVD. For that, you'll need to download Pacifist to recover the Mail software.
Check if you haven't lost anything else.
Also, do a permissions verification from: Applications, Utilities, Disk Utility, check permissions and repair them if needed.

Before all that, do a search in Spotlight (the magnifying glass at the top right) to see if you can find the applications.

For the mail, it's the CD you got when you bought your Mac. Don't forget to use Pacifist.
For Microsoft Office, you downloaded it and it's illegal, so you won't get any help on this site, sorry.
