Hello,
I bought my parents an eeetop that runs Windows XP Home, but for some time now nothing works properly…. applications take hours to open and windows freeze. It has become extremely slow. I would like to format to reset the factory settings, but even with the recovery CD I can’t! When I insert the CD, nothing happens and I get unusable icons with ISO, BIN, WIN, etc. extensions. I don’t know how to proceed. I need a good helping hand. If anyone has already done this, I’d be happy to hear about it.
Thanks in advance

Thank you for your help, but now I have another problem, a big one. I just tried to restart it to boot from the installation CD, but no way, it crashed completely. The screen stays black with an “eee top” inscription in the background!! Nothing happens for hours, not even the mouse is powered, and I conclude that the keyboard isn’t either!! This time I think I’ll be able to throw it in the trash ;(

Hello,
did you put the CD in at startup so that it boots from the CD? -
Hi
With an Eeepc you have to press F9 at startup to launch the factory system recovery.
It might be possible to launch it from the Start > All Programs menu — look in the Asus programs.
