Wi-Fi connection via Livebox

Solved

Hello, I have a Livebox to which two PCs are connected, the first one via USB, the second one via Wi-Fi.
The connection of the first one works perfectly! However, with the second one, connected via Wi-Fi, I can no longer access the internet.
The PC is able to connect to the Livebox, so I'm connected via Wi-Fi, but the internet doesn't work! I don't understand.
After 3 calls to Wanadoo (I got brushed off every time! "The problem must be with Windows, it's not our responsibility")

In the configuration of the Livebox, apparently, the IP address of the PC connected via Wi-Fi is enabled.

If anyone has any ideas? Thank you very much to those who will help me! ;)

Hello,

Simply because you are not in association mode on your Livebox once you enter your WEP or WPA key, and when the computer is trying to connect at that moment you need to go to your Livebox and press the "1" button on the back of it, and normally the Livebox will switch to association mode and your sister's Wi-Fi PC should be able to connect to it!

Good evening
I hope you don't mind me bothering you because I see that you have found the right solution to the problem I am currently facing, except that I have the latest Orange Livebox (Thomson) and the button 1 corresponds to the Ethernet cable connection - I have a Wi-Fi button that I keep pressing for 5 seconds... but there's still no association? What can I do, please?
Thank you very much

Hey, you need to press the button 1 on the live box to connect another PC to the live box. But I think you should press button 1 after entering the password and before clicking on 'connect'. Then I pressed it until it told me it was good, it's connected. At first, it says: 'no internet access' in the window where we entered the password for about 20 seconds, and then it's good. IT'S CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET.

On my Livebox, the button is underneath, next to the two cables. I enter the Wi-Fi number and press the small button when I confirm.

Hello,

When you go to the web interface of your Livebox, is the Wi-Fi mode properly activated? And if so, have you enabled encryption using a WEP key? To access the web interface of your Livebox, open a web page from a computer that has internet access (via your Livebox, of course) and type http://192.168.1.1 then login: admin and password: admin, and there you should find somewhere a tab for Wi-Fi or wireless, and in there make sure that Wi-Fi is activated and that the encryption mode for Wi-Fi is set to WEP key.

Merci.

If it says unlimited or nonexistent connectivity, it means that you are connected with a wrong IP address or it is forced or incorrect.

Hello,
I have a Livebox, but I have a little problem. So actually, I have my desktop computer connected via Ethernet. I have a laptop and when I connect it via Wi-Fi, everything goes well. But when my sister wants to connect with our Livebox, there's a problem. Her laptop detects the Livebox via Wi-Fi. We select "Connect," and it asks for the WEP key (which is normal since it’s secured), but after entering the WEP key, it tries to connect but can’t. Why won’t the computer connect even though it detects the Livebox?
Can someone help me as soon as possible?

Thank you in advance.

Have you found the solution? I have the same problem.

Because when you connect, press the rec or wifi button (it depends) on your Livebox while you are connecting.

I am connected to the livebox! I just checked the settings, yet I can't ping the livebox address.

Yet, I can see that the wireless connection is well established! I can see the connection speed, the number of packets sent, etc...
I'm lost :p

Did you find the problem? Because for me, it's the same as you.

I forgot:
I can ping the Wi-Fi PC from the USB PC, but not the other way around. Strange.

Hello everyone,

My experience with random ideas, hoping that it might be useful to you

I have a Livebox (Inventel, not SAGEM) which came with a Wi-Fi card (USB stick format).
First, I wanted to set up Wi-Fi with Windows, using the default settings, and I struggled like a dead rat.
So I changed:
1) The SSID
2) The channel to 10 (I also checked this setting on the Wi-Fi card).
3) Encryption to WEP 128 bits.

It should be noted that you shouldn't hesitate to apply each change of settings and to reload the device after the last activation.

So I rebooted my PC, started the installation letting Windows do its thing, and it started working.....
The internet access was lousy, it improved when I set a proper DNS directly in the IP settings of my PC over Wi-Fi.

For the ping issues that function unilaterally, isn't there a firewall in place somewhere? Are you able to capture network traces via Wireshark (formerly Ethereal)?
I currently don't have my PC on Wi-Fi and I'll try as soon as I can, but it seems normal (in terms of network security) that you cannot access the Livebox via Wi-Fi IF remote access to the Livebox is not authorized.
As for the internet access issue, is it really an internet access problem or a DNS problem?
Does accessing a site via its IP yield the same results?

Good luck with your investigations.

and by typing ipconfig/all
do you have an IP address with DNS or nothing?

Try disabling the firewall and antivirus.
When you right-click on your Wi-Fi connection, status then details, are the network settings correct?

are you not being blocked by the MAC filtering of the Wi-Fi access point? is the WEP key correct?

Have you tested the sync (inventel button 1) or the button below (sagem)?
Have you requested to repair your connection in the Windows XP connection preferences?
It's a pain with the Livebox, especially when coming from other systems like Netgear.
I just changed my Livebox (from Sagem to Inventel) thinking that an efficient VLAN would be there. Well, no! So annoying.

What I wanted was, by entering my MAC address, to get a fixed address on my network, knowing that I drag my laptop everywhere from one place to another and that each time I have to reconfigure everything in my preferences :(

No MAC filtering either
an interface of shocking poverty
and my unlimited phone option that no longer wants to work
ALL OF THIS AFTER BEING JERKED AROUND BY INCOMPETENT ADVISORS FROM FRANCE TELECOM/ORANGE O DESPAIR.....

Hello, I had the same problem as you all. My PC was connected to the Livebox but had no internet access. I had the Livebox replaced, and now I can connect via my laptop using Wi-Fi.
So if I can offer you a piece of advice, try changing your Livebox.

Good evening, I have a problem opposite to this one: in wireless networks, I appear as not connected while I can navigate, and after a while it says unable to connect, and instead of not connected, it shows as automatic, but then I have no web access. I have to click on refresh the network list for it to show as "not connected," with web operational, until the next error message... and so on.

Hello,
My PC with a built-in Wi-Fi card detects my Livebox, but when I try to connect, it never asks for my WEP key. So, I can't configure my computer. However, my Livebox works fine on the other two computers in the house.
Does anyone have a solution?
Thank you.

Hello,

I want to answer your question; regarding the Wi-Fi key, your computer is not asking because the security is disabled on the LIVEBOX. You would need to access the configuration page from a computer connected via an Ethernet cable by going to the IP address 192.168.1.1 and choose WEP. As for your second question, you can configure your computer without any problem since you already have computers connected via Ethernet that are working very well.
Good luck.

Hello.

I have the same problem with my PC which is connected to my Livebox via a Netgear Wi-Fi adapter. Before, there was a Hercules adapter that never worked very well and hasn't worked at all for the past few weeks. So, my sister replaced it and installed the other one. Apparently, she did everything correctly, the devices are connected, but the "packets" transmitted by my Livebox aren't reaching the computer.
If someone has any idea... (hoping it's not too complicated for me lol).

Thanks

First, try to ping the Livebox and then the other PC.
If that works, try a ping on Google.
And post the result here

Thank you for your help, but it doesn’t work, neither the ping on the PC, nor on the livebox, and even less towards a site.

All the packets sent are lost :s

*And when typing ipconfig/all
do you have an IP address with DNS or nothing?

---> There is nothing written after: "DNS suffix specific to the connection"
my IP is clearly marked, with the subnet mask, the physical address, etc...

*Try disabling the firewall and antivirus.

---> Nothing. It's still the same thing.

*When you right-click on your wifi connection, status then support, are the network settings correct?

---> By right-clicking on my connection, I must be doing it wrong, but I do not see "status". My network settings seem correct to me.

*Are you not blocked by the MAC filtering of the wifi access point?

---> No, the physical address authorized by MAC filtering is the correct one. I disabled the filtering, and it gave the same results.

*Is the WEP key correct?
Yes, yes!

In the settings of my livebox, I can see:

Wireless network information 802.11g:

1 station(s) connected
(with the correct physical address!)

Yet I can't ping the livebox from the PC :s

I'm having exactly the same problem connecting to Wi-Fi with the Livebox, I am indeed connected but can't display the page!

Have you found a solution???

Thanks in advance

Hello,
I have 1 desktop PC and 2 laptops. On the PC, I set up the live box which, I think, works perfectly, and on one of the laptops, there is a Wi-Fi system that works well too, but it relies on a device whose name I don't know. Then on the third laptop, which has built-in Wi-Fi, I can't manage to set up the internet. The modem is Wanadoo and the name is wanadoo_f5ed. Could someone explain to me in detail how Wi-Fi works, and how to install it??? Because during the installation, when I have to choose a Wanadoo modem, there are several options but not this one. Thanks.

Hi, for your Wi-Fi problem, type http//192.168.1.1 which will allow you to enter your live box. Then it all depends if you're on XP or Vista, you go to Wi-Fi and choose the channel; for me it was 7.
But first, is your box synchronized with your PC?

Hi Nino

I have exactly the same problem as you
I'm connected to wifi, but impossible to connect to the livebox configuration via the wifi PC
When I check the configuration page of a connected PC, I can see that the wifi is recognized
So I called Wanadoo and at first they told me to call the manufacturer, I refused, so they told me that a specialized technician would call me back this week

I'll keep you posted on the progress
Feel free to ask me any questions

Good evening everyone, I’m posting because I have the same problem as the thread creator. More simply, in the Orange manager, my Livebox and my PC communicate, but I can't access any web page, and in the configuration pages of the Livebox, I can see the MAC address of my USB key, my WPA key is correct, I don’t know what to do anymore :(

Thank you in advance for your responses!
