unsupported frequency Solved

Question

Hello,

I just formatted and reinstalled Windows. 10 minutes after that, I got a black screen with a red box saying: UNSUPPORTED FREQUENCY.

Then the computer restarted, with a ScanDisk, and since then, the display on my screen is very dark, I feel like my screen has been damaged.

Does anyone have a solution? Is there a setting I need to adjust?

I tried all that, but it doesn't help.

When I change the frequency, it's strange:
- while the message AUTO ADJUSTMENT, PLEASE WAIT is displayed, the screen is fine, but as soon as the auto adjustment ends, the screen goes dark again, like before.

Hi

Have you tried adjusting the contrast and brightness directly on the screen?
If not, check in the control panel, display/settings/advanced tab. In the "Screen" tab, you can adjust the refresh rate. See if the problem is coming from there.

I'm going to suggest that you uninstall the drivers and the software for the screen
and leave the default Windows drivers

I bought a 20-inch flat screen 16/10 ACER AL2016W
I connect it in place of my 17-inch monitor and I get the message under Windows XP
UNSUPPORTED FREQUENCIES

Resolution: I reconnect my monitor
I identify the driver for my graphics card (download from the Internet or CDROM at hand)
I go to display settings and select 800x600 (VGA)
Then in advanced display settings, I uninstall the SCREEN driver, then the GRAPHICS CARD driver.
I restart and refuse any new installation of recognized devices (screen and graphics card)
and check that the display settings are still
800x600, no screen driver, no graphics card driver
I power off the PC, I connect the flat screen.
As soon as XP starts (in 800x600 60hz), I press the auto button on the flat screen (automatic adjustment sequence) and then I allow
the graphics card driver installation (via Internet download or CDROM)
and possibly the screen driver.
I restart and in advanced display settings, I choose the highest configuration allowing proper functioning (depending on the capabilities of the graphics card).
In case of problematic choice, restart with F8, select VGA display, then
Once XP is launched, go back to advanced display settings and choose the last working configuration.
You can restart an automatic adjustment sequence on the flat screen (AUTO button) and go into the OSD (on screen display) menu to fine-tune the display (be careful to select monitor only if you have a video output on the graphics card, validate the video output again once the adjustments are finished)

I just read your recommendations, however I press F8 and it doesn't work at startup. I have an Acer AL1716 screen.

SOLUTION

Frequency problem too high video

I finally found a way to play Blacksite (too high frequency issue)

It's very simple, I connect my TV screen using an S-Video cable and I clone my screen.
When launching the game:
On the PC screen: Frequency too high
On the TV: It works perfectly

So thanks to this, I went into the game options and changed the resolution which was too high (1900*1080)
or something like that. I changed it to 1280*1024 and it has been working wonderfully on the PC since then.

This applies to all games, including Left 4 Dead
Be careful, it's not a Hertz issue 60, 70...
it's the game's resolution that is too high by default.
