Hello,
I have a YES WE CAN HD HDD that plays 264 and MKV formats without any problem...
except that some have no sound or cut off at the beginning of the films!!
Does anyone know about this issue or have this type of device and know if any updates exist?
For your information, there’s nothing on the official WE Digital website!! Thanks everyone

Good evening everyone. I have a Samsung Yes We Can 1TB hard drive that I bought at the end of 2009. Having had the same issues as you (hard drive not recognized, I/O error during reading, no sound on certain MKVs, etc.), I returned everything to customer service before the warranty expired. The hard drive was replaced, but the problem persisted. As a result: a second return to customer service, and this time, I got my DDM back with a new firmware that I found on a website (http://www.accuratefiles.com/fileinfo/gs18e0fa7h2i0). Since then, the DDM works perfectly (you have to wait for the crackling to finish for the hard drive to be recognized at startup, which takes about 20 seconds, and there are no more interruptions during video playback).

Yes yes, absolutely. The whole thing is compliant and identical to the previous versions with a better graphical interface (network management, internet features, etc...). Regarding the MKVs, only those encoded in DTS work (not in AC3). However, in both cases, there are no more stutters during playback.

You don't have to look far to realize that the same bugs are there.
For those interested, the yes we can hd is equivalent to Mvix Ultio.
Apparently, there are 2 generations for this player identifiable by the serial number.
For my part, it was the first generation, so I tried this firmware https://support.mvixusa.com/support/login.sas?serviceurl=%2Fsupport%2Fs%2FShowHomePage.do
I think this is the only one for the yes we can hd.
For those who want to try the other generation, it is available here https://support.mvixusa.com/support/login.sas?serviceurl=%2Fsupport%2Fs%2FShowHomePage.do
PS: I tried both, and only the first one works 100%.-
Hello quaiquaike,
Thank you for your information, I actually flashed the Firmware of my NO WE CAN'T HD from Samsung with the MVix Ultio firmware available at the link below and indeed, it was a miracle, it has become a true YES YOU CAN HD from MVIX that works wonderfully.
https://support.mvixusa.com/support/login.sas?serviceurl=%2Fsupport%2Fs%2FShowHomePage.do
No more startup or shutdown bugs, with a PC you can immediately access the recorded files as well as the network sharing.
Thank you very much to you and long live MVix.

SUUUUPPPPERRRRR !!! My HD hard drive "YES WE CAN HD Deluxe Edition" had become a "brick", I hardly used it anymore because it was working so poorly...
And then, miracle, the "1st generation" firmware you posted solved all my problems (I/O errors, hard drive not recognized by the computer, and by the multimedia box...), plus this new firmware offers a much more pleasant graphical interface than the default one.
A BIG THANK YOU!! -

Hi Mime
Indeed, this firmware is by far the most stable.
I would like to know how to add IPTV as you mentioned (tutorials or links)
How did you find this site with this firmware (because I don't know Russian or are you of Russian origin)
Anyway, I would like to have information to help develop this multimedia hard drive.
AND AGAIN 1000 THANKS TO YOU FOR THIS FIRMWARE. -
I also had a lot of issues reading .mkv files on the "yes we can hd"... Here are my solutions (hopefully temporary while awaiting an update):
- crashes when reading from the internal hard drive: use a USB stick, and there are no more problems (I previously tried: formatting, partitions, etc. but nothing conclusive): power issue?
- does not support vob_sub subtitles (otherwise crashes): disable them or convert them to srt.
- does not handle dts audio: convert the track to ac3. -
An alternative solution is the MkvSmoothie app (http://www.mendeleiev.info/mkvsmoothie/) which quickly converts DTS sound to AC3 on MKV files in two clicks.
It's pretty fast, and it can come in handy ;) -
Hello,
Same problem. Buggy firmware, a youthful defect! The hard drive is not always recognized, in MKV the sound of some films does not work, the disk is not visible on the network. Advice: DO NOT update with the firmware from the official site AT ALL: it does not support HD or HDMI output and corresponds to the YES WE CAN SD version.-
too bad I didn't see this response earlier!!
I bought (11/21/09) a "high definition multimedia jukebox" deluxe edition YES WE CAN HD 1T, capable of playing *.m2ts files from my Sony camcorder.
I encountered a problem while playing these files; after a few minutes of playback, the audio and video become unsynchronized (audio ahead of video). The gap widens as the playback continues.
I recently found on the website wedigital.fr an update for the YES WE CAN HD firmware reference YWCHD111209.ZIP. I installed it, and the result is catastrophic: no playback possible, the device freezes at the start of the files, the same for photos until a complete freeze of the device.
How can I revert to the initial firmware, which wasn't perfect but worked somewhat (system info was: Kernel: 179313. Bootcode: 0000.0202.0015. Revision: 1073-ver2.08-090727-EU133)?
Is there another website?
Thank you for your responses.- Hi everyone! I also have a lot of trouble with this hard drive; it recognizes the hard drive one time out of two. Sometimes the movie starts and after 2 minutes the playback stops and I see (error: ES video playback) and I have to turn it off because after that it doesn't read any files anymore! I did the last update from the site thinking it would fix the issues!!! But it didn't!!! Plus, it doesn't read certain AVIs (the videos from my camcorder that I convert), so I'm really pissed off that I spent $200 on this crap!! And their site is just like their hard drive—garbage!!!

Hello everyone,
For anyone who has crashed their WE Multimedia Juke Box:
A new firmware version is available on the website http://www.connect-we.fr/?page=support
Do not install version YWCHD111209 available on Touslesdrivers.com but the official version YWCHD311209 to download from www.wedigital.fr.
Please post your feedback!-
Hello everyone
the YWCHD311209 version is certainly less catastrophic than the 111209 one, but the problems persist:
- frequent crashes (but not systematic) when playing video files.
- navigation in folders is often impossible (returns to the root instead of opening the folder)
you have to stop the player and restart it (sometimes several times).
- desynchronization of audio and video (m2ts file).
I look forward to the next updates. support (email) is completely silent, not even an acknowledgment of receipt for sent messages.

Hello,
I currently don't have any of the aforementioned issues.
However, I do have another one, which is the "copy" function of the remote control. I select the source and then the target (to do direct transfers from a USB key to the DDM) and then... it's impossible to validate to perform the copy!!!
Has anyone experienced this problem and can it be resolved?
Thank you for your response.-
Update done. The device, although labeled as "SMB server," does not appear on the network (which I specify is working perfectly, the yes we can navigates and reads files from my PC on the network), so I think it's only an SMB client, which is too bad. It would be so much easier to see the device appear in the network neighborhood. If anyone has succeeded, please share the procedure with me.
As for copying, to answer Gégé, once you’ve made your selection, did you go to the right to reach the "copy" dialog box? At first, I searched for a long time; I couldn’t figure out how to initiate the copy until I realized that it doesn’t happen by clicking "OK," which would have been logical, but by going to the right with the arrow that you launch the copy.
And one last thing that drives me crazy: no sound when my mkv file contains DTS!!! It’s still amazing: recent device, latest generation flat screen, HDMI 1.3 cable,
in short, I thought I was all set... well no, apparently the device (like others such as WD TV) only sends the DTS digital part to the optical output. You absolutely need a DTS-decoding amplifier behind to hear the sound. So if you want a simple and practical setup like an LCD TV + media player, well you hear nothing. You need an amplifier and full speakers. Thanks, technology. What nonsense.
I advise everyone who is considering buying this type of device to forget it!!!
Instead, get a popcorn C200!! It might cost 150€ more, but at least it’s the absolute rolls that plays everything.
Including decoding DTS directly. A word to the wise.
SL- Thank you, Scapin!
Actually, I needed to select the file(s) with the "select" key and not just OK to move on to the next destination step... I'm so silly :p!!!
Another thing for those who might have issues with their USB drive... remember to update the firmware...
I received my DDM last week and the firmware was from July 2009!!! Anyway, to make the USB drive work properly, I had to install the latest firmware from 12/31/2009 and it worked like a charm!!!!
As for the DTS sound on MKVs, I haven't encountered any issues yet because my MKVs are working fine...

Hello Gégé44,
I bought this disk yesterday, no issues encountered so far (I’m in the discovery phase).
Regarding your request, I also had to struggle for a while: in fact, once you select the files from your source disk, you have to use the right arrow on the remote control’s pad when you’re on the target disk; and then it displays a context menu to either cancel, move, or copy. It works very well but seems longer than if you do the action from a PC. That said, it’s very convenient.
Otherwise, I saw an update apparently dated 31122010 on the official site.
Do you know what the components of this case are, type of chip? ...
Thanks.
Have a good day. -
Hello gege44,
I see you've managed to update the FW! I need your help!
By the way, I downloaded the latest FW dated 31122009. But it asks me to put it on the USB flash! And there I'm stuck!?
Can you explain to me how you did it please?
If anyone could also enlighten me, thank you for writing to me at: elhater@hotmail.com
Thanks in advance.

The sound reading problem with certain MKV files arises from the fact that the YWC HD does not contain the CODEC for decoding DTS sound. So, if your movie contains stereo soundtracks (2 channels, possible even on an H264 file): no problem. However, if the soundtracks are still encoded in DTS, then there is no sound.
I tested outputting the sound via an optical connection and, miraculously, the DTS is perfectly decoded.
Request to be made to WE: integrate the DTS decoding CODEC. But that’s another story, as there has never been a response to emails from this company!-
Absolutely Icenet, that's exactly it. Once again we realize that from a consumer perspective, without wanting to whine or argue, we are always led astray by incomprehensible technical issues, to think that the intelligent people who design these devices don't use them!! I bought this product for 2 reasons: the ethernet logo and the DTS logo. In the end, the network indeed works, but the device does not identify itself, so it is invisible on the network neighborhood from the PC, and as for the DTS, the nuance was the word "compatible"!! It should have meant not usable if simply connected via HDMI even the latest generation to an LCD screen that is as new as possible, which is to say about the situation of the majority of people who have a simple setup in the living room!! For my part, I can possibly land on my feet by putting the device in my dedicated room (video projection) since I do have an amplifier that decodes DTS. But if I want to watch HD mkv/dts in the living room on my LCD screen, I have to re-encode everything. anyway. Regarding this, for all those who are interested, the best way to do this is the utility "popcorn mkv audioconverter" which works wonders: you can convert (without touching the video) from DTS 5.1 to AC3 5.1 perfectly, which is played directly by the wedigital. https://www.videohelp.com/software/PopCorn-MKV-AudioConverter Best regards to all. PS: if anyone has found out how to see this device in the network neighborhood (SMB server as described in the ad and in the PDF doc) I'm all ears. SL
- Hello, for the DTS I also use the software mentioned by Scapin earlier (popcorn mkv audioconverter) and it's true that it works wonderfully. I have another major issue: I can't play multiple audio tracks consecutively; as soon as I reach the end of a song, the player doesn't continue whether I start the track with the OK or play button. If anyone has an answer to my problem, that would be great. Thanks.
- Scarpin, hello I downloaded Popcorn MKV AudioConverter, should I put it on the USB key and connect it directly to the Yes We Can HD like the firmware from the W.E. site and the DTS sound will be played? I put the firmware from the W.E. site for the update but I don’t see any improvement. I called for help, and the person told me it would work better!? Still no DTS!

Hello
Is anybody here speaking English?
I have a WE Yes we can HD. I bought it a week ago. I have a problem with playing 1080 HD video. It always says ERROR INPUT-OUT when I play a video from the internal HDD, and after that it says "format mistake" for all files until I reboot the WE player. When I play a video from the USB input of an external HDD, I haven't found this problem. It doesn't depend on the video format (mkv or avi-mpeg4 or others).
And the second problem: sometimes it doesn't see the internal HDD. I switch it OFF and ON again, and then it is possible to see the HDD.
I have the latest firmware 311209. I've tried with the old firmware 111209, but the problem is the same.
Does anybody have the same problems or not? I have a few days to think - return it back to the shop or wait for new firmware/... -
Hello,
I just picked up my YWC after 40 days of service via Carrefour. That's quite long after all! But everything works perfectly with the latest firmware from 29/12/09.
Moreover, I managed to demultiplex and remultiplex a DTS MKV to an AC3 MKV.
For now, it's nothing but pleasure. Phew! Let's hope it lasts! -
Hello,
I updated it and now my player is "acting up".
Has anyone found a solution? Rolling back to the original firmware.
Thanks -
Hi c--fred,
I recommend that you format your hard drive: since the format function of the disk software is not working, connect it to your PC, then in "This PC" identify the letter of your disk. Right-click and format. Choose NTFS.
Your problems should go away. -
Hi, I have the same problem if that can reassure you
I just downloaded an update from the site but I can't install it
http://www.connect-we.fr/?page=fiche_support&produit=yes_we_can_hd&choix=firmware
See you later! -
Thank you Icenet and Denver for your responses.
I feel like my issues started when I installed the version
of the fw YWCHD311209 (installed by copying the files to a USB stick), but I'm not sure....
My WE "yes we can hd" player freezes when I try to watch HD files in mkv format. (freezing then invalid file and sometimes then impossible to see the files present in the directories.... Strange....)
@Icenet, if I reformat my drive, do I need to reinstall the fw (which one)?
In your opinion, will this fix the issue?
Thanks in advance for your feedback.
P.S.: I would like to find a solution because I don't want to take my player to the service center, I would need to transfer all my files beforehand.... -
J'ai beaucoup de problèmes avec WE YWCHD
J'ai écrit un email à l'entreprise WE DIGITAL
il suit...
--------------------
Bonjour
J'ai le lecteur WE Digital Yes We Can HD.
--------------------------
Mais ils ne répondent pas du tout. -
@Icenet
I reformatted the hard drive but still have the same problem; when
I try to play mkv files, it freezes after a while.
It's starting to annoy me.... :-((
I don’t know what to do. Does anyone have the original firmware?
Can we install the firmware from another WD hard drive?
Thank you in advance for your responses and your help. -
Hello, I just purchased the same case. Everything is going fine for me. For the firmware, go to www.wedigital.fr, you will find what you're looking for. Otherwise, for the MKVs with audio glitches, you can convert them to .mts or .m2ts, which is the format used by the PS3. It's still HD, and converting 8 GB takes at most 10 minutes.
-
After more testing, I find myself, like many of you, with reading issues. I'm trying different things and I'll keep you updated. However, for those who wish to revert to firmware 11122009, follow the update procedure. If it doesn't work
turn off the reader, insert the USB key, press the power button and hold it down, connect the hard drive while still holding the power button, until the update message appears.
-
-
Good evening,
I was also doing fine at the beginning. :-)))
Since the firmware update (YWCHD311209), found on the We website,
the MKV files no longer work while the same ones worked before. :-(
Sometimes the AVI files do not work either.
I don't know what to do anymore. I've tried everything: formatting...
I don't know if there might be another firmware that would work with it.
Thank you.
