Question

Hello,
following an interruption of programs on my satellite channels, I wanted to update my digital receiver, but unfortunately, I cannot find any bin file that would allow me to restore the broadcasting of the programs. Is there an additional procedure or something else I should do besides the update? I specify that the update is done via USB key.

You can go to http://www.super-sat.org and download the file GI-S801_X-24Jan2008.zip (if you have an S801 XSpeed, otherwise there are files for other models)
After decompressing, you will have the file GI-S801_X-24Jan2008.bin to put on your USB stick

According to a manual I have, you just need to insert the USB stick into the port and then turn on the receiver. A message should appear on the screen.
But I am not getting any message...

Good evening, download the update file from this site "http://ww1.webobo.com", making sure to choose the correct golden interstar GI-S801. Once downloaded, decompress the file onto your USB stick; it will give you a .bin file. Insert the USB stick into your decoder, and it should normally detect the USB stick. Choose the update file that appears on your TV screen; once the decoder is on, the update will start, and the decoder will reboot by itself. Just let it do its thing, and then you can enjoy it. It's as simple as that. I did it last night, and it works very well. Have a good evening.

Yes, thank you, it's all good. I have recovered all my channels, I entered the BIN data after decompressing it, extracted it from the folder, and sent it to my USB stick. I plugged the stick into the receiver and a message appeared, then there were two steps: one for downloading and one for initialization. Now you have all your channels back, your decoder is flashed. The update works very well as long as only the bin subfile is placed on the USB key. However, I am encountering a problem since then; my USB key is no longer recognized in the installation menu, and the terminal no longer accepts the USB key either. Is there a solution to remedy this?

When you plug in your USB stick, the demo detects if there are files that it recognizes, such as bin files or backup files for the channel list. Try clearing your USB stick and only putting back the bin file; otherwise, change to another USB stick if you can, as it might be a compatibility issue. I have an MP3 player USB stick that the demo won't accept.

Hello TPS is back... But not with the USB key that the decoder no longer recognized. I connected via the RS232C serial port to the same port of the PC using a crossover cable female / female - Pin 5 on 5 - Pin 2 on 3 - Pin 3 on 2 (ground/ground - Transmit/Receive - Receive/Transmit). Using the STBUpgrade software Ver 1.9.5 (STBDownload_1.9.5.zip) and the file GI-S801_X-4Feb2008.bin (GI-S801_X-4Feb2008.zip)  The decoder must be plugged in and in standby (time displayed)  STB settings: COM1 Port Speed 115200 Data Program Only Action Download  Check the option that should be set to Keep channel list Click on Load to retrieve the Bin file from the disk Click on Connect and turn on the decoder (remote control)  The update starts (progress bar on STBDownload) and lasts for 2 to 3 minutes. Good evening everyone !!     So, I was just gifted the GOLDEN INTERSTAR GI-S 801 Xpeed decoder. While searching online to see what it's worth, I realized that it can be flashed. What does it enable once flashed?  I then delved a little deeper into the subject and found a procedure to flash it using a  crossover RS 232 cable:  (turn off the decoder, launch the STBDownload software, open an appropriate BIN file for the decoder, connect, power on the decoder, then wait).   Then, I also found update files, in the form of ZIPs that contain a BIN file to put on a USB stick and into the decoder.     But there’s something I don’t understand: is the BIN file for the update the same as the one to open  in STBDownload? Because I can't find the BIN file to open in STBDownload.     Additionally, I also saw discussions about clones, and that the GOLDEN INTERSTAR GI-S 801 Xpeed decoder could be cloned into a SR-X 190D ULTRA. What is the purpose of cloning it?   If someone could clarify these points for me, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your responses.

Here is the latest information:  "Tps is busy playing with different frequencies and different send pids of the keyset (the list of keys) and to top it off, there are modifications on the ecm tps-crypt. The problem should find a solution because it is possible to decrypt tps with the latest algo, but only if we can make modifications every 6 hours on the firm. It is therefore very difficult to code in a firm since the changes are +- random but there is a solution because actually the algo has not been updated in the official demos (they are the only ones that are okay by the way with a mosc) which means that tps uses existing functions in the algo that have not yet been used previously. Apparently these functions are well hidden in the original firms and some people are working on it but this is what we call "hard-coding" and it is a job to decode all this. It's debugging hard for now  So patience, patience... even if anyway it is time to seriously think about finding another solution because even if the light comes back, it won’t last given the upcoming switch to via3."  THAT'S IT!!!  So patience...

Message pour Rod : tu prends ton démo, tu branches le port série RS232C femelle-femelle sur ton PC, mais avant tout tu télécharges le logiciel (STB upgrade ver 1.9.5.zip). Tu trouves tout sur Dragon Sat, tu télécharges aussi (ex.) le fichier du 13 06 08. N'oublie pas de mettre en bin. Tu mets dans le bureau, ton démo doit être en veille, heure affichée. Tu ouvres le STB upgrade, tu as un tableau qui s'ouvre : paramètres STB, port COM 1, données des programmes only, action download, vérifier option qui doit être keep channel list. Clique sur load pour récupérer le fichier bin, même si on sait que ce n'est pas le bon, clique sur connect et allume ton démo manuellement ou avec la télécommande. Le flash commence, la barre de progression monte. Tu attends surtout jusqu'à la fin, ça s'affiche sur ton PC et là seulement, tu éteins ton démo et le mode USB revient comme avant. Ça a l'air dur comme ça, mais c'est simple. Tiens-moi au courant.
