Fan that starts and stops Solved

Question

Hello,

I just acquired a new PC that I am assembling myself.
I bought a case with the power supply and everything that goes with it.

I connect everything correctly (I think) and try to start the machine. The fans for the processor and the case turn on for about 2 seconds. I should mention that the LED on the motherboard lights up, but nothing happens afterwards.

I have conducted quite a few tests:
- starting without RAM
- starting without a hard drive
- starting without RAM and without a hard drive

I searched a bit online and couldn't find a solution that corresponds to my issue. I don't think it's the power supply or the motherboard since everything is new...

Can you help me?

I had the same problem as you, I removed the battery from the motherboard and checked if a standoff was touching the motherboard and it worked.

* 1 x MiniTower Case ORION 8612B, ATX, 480 W, black color, Advance
* 1 x Dual Channel DDR2 Kit, 2 x 2 GB, ValueRAM, PC2-6400, Cas 5, Kingston
* 1 x Internal DVD Burner GH22LS50, 22X, Double layer & LightScribe, SATA, Bulk Black, LG
* 1 x Hard Drive Series F3, 500 GB, 16 MB, 7200 RPM, 3.5'', SATA II, Samsung

I just tested the clear cmos but that doesn't change anything.
The fans start and stop right after. I suspect a short circuit, but I can't see where that might be coming from.

Any idea about the problem?

hmmmmm, the mini case with a "noname" power supply
the problem could very well come from there, faulty power supply or not powerful enough
do you have a way to borrow a "real" power supply to test?

From what I could read or see, 480w should be enough for a setup like this, right?

Well, the tests are over and there's no doubt about it!

I tested with another power supply with a maximum capacity of 400 watts and it works perfectly.
So the case is back at the store and I'm going to get another one...

Well, there you go, proving that new equipment can still malfunction.

In my opinion, you would be better off keeping your case and buying a power supply worth its salt.

The problem is that I don't necessarily have a big budget for the case + power supply, so I'm looking for something decent for 50/60 € all inclusive (case + power supply)

Hello

For Pentium 4, a knight move is sometimes necessary.

Check the manual provided to see in which position they should be depending on the bus frequency indicated on the surface of the processor. 3.0/128/==>800 <== for example

Generally, 1/2 is for frequencies above 400 MHz while 2/3 is specific to 400 MHz.
