Hello,

I bought a Blackberry Curve 8520 today from SFR with a blocked MTV plan. I configured my Wi-Fi network, I activate it, I open the browser that is in the menu (to the left of Vodafone Live) and every connection for about 1 minute, they deduct 0.50 euros from me. Can you please help me?
Configuration: Windows Vista Internet Explorer 7.0

I've solved my problem. You need to enable your connection (manage connections in the menu) and then, once that's done, go to options, advanced options, browser category, and choose public access point instead of Vodafone live! for me. In short, you need to set public access point in place of that phrase because Vodafone live! is for SFR. I hope I've helped you well. For me, no more surcharges for internet (0.50 cents etc. every time the browser opens, finally over :) ).

    Best regards, Evrest.

Hello, I have the BlackBerry Curve 8520 with SFR and a blocked MTV plan with unlimited SMS, BBM, etc.
I have Wi-Fi service, but every time I connect, I lose €0.30 or €0.50. Since the beginning of my plan, I've been connected to my Wi-Fi network and I've already lost €10!!!
In your first message, I understood that you had the same problem as me, but then you sent another message saying that you had solved your problem and that it was necessary to set the "public access point browser" because "vodafone live" was for SFR. I didn't understand. Are you with SFR?? What should I do?? I need your help, thank you in advance :).

Hello everyone, I have the BB Curve 8520. Recently I had an MTV plan + Blackberry option. But now I have an SFR prepaid SIM in a Blackberry. I have configured my WIFI network, but every time I try to access the internet, it says "UNABLE TO CONNECT TO THE INTERNET, PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER. IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTS, CONTACT YOUR SERVICE PROVIDER." So my question is how to fix this, lol, and can we use the internet with a prepaid SFR SIM? Also, would MSN Messenger work? THANK YOU.

      Same problem as Amina.
I changed operators, I switched to Bouygues, and I wanted to keep the same phone number.
For that, I got a temporary number for a week, during which the internet worked fine without me having to configure anything. Now I am no longer using my temporary number, but my old number that I wanted to keep, and now I can't connect to anything; I always get the same message: UNABLE TO CONNECT TO THE INTERNET, PLEASE TRY AGAIN LATER. IF THE PROBLEM PERSISTS, CONTACT YOUR SERVICE PROVIDER.

The problem of being unable to connect to the internet happens to me too (quite often). To remedy this (my way), I type google.fr in the address... then I press a lot of times very quickly until it opens the page. But you have to press several times before the problem message appears. That's all I've managed to find for that. As for MSN, you need to have the Blackberry option with SFR because all instant messaging (Blackberry messenger, Windows Live Messenger) is paid (the Blackberry option is 9 euros per month, I believe), so you need a subscription. But you can access MSN with the Blackberry browser (type ebuddy on Google).

For Gogo, just follow my second post and you'll succeed on your own. First, you need to configure your Wi-Fi (in the menu go to manage connections, then enter Wi-Fi network configuration, go to network search, if you see the message "Enable Wi-Fi to perform a search" you set Enable Wi-Fi mode, find your Wi-Fi network, and set it up (code etc...). Once all of that is done, go back to the menu, go to options, find advanced options, go to browser, under Default browser configuration: you press on Vodafone Live! and replace it with Public access point browser. I assure you it works; I use the internet with my Blackberry 2 or 3 hours a day.

I have the same Wi-Fi connection problem with my BlackBerry Curve 8520 purchased from SFR with a blocked plan. Can the fact that it is locked to SFR prevent it from finding the IP address? Its current IP address is 0.0.0.0. Thank you for your help. I called SFR, and they were unable to respond!

Yes, if you have a configured Wi-Fi connection and you configure your phone like I do, yes. Otherwise, what would be the use of Wi-Fi on this phone if we had to pay every time we use it? I assure you it works because I connect to the internet for about 2 hours a day with my BB.

    Best regards, Evrest.

I assure you, Evrest, that it's not working at all. I've configured everything just like you said, but I'm still being charged... My brother is with SFR and it's working very well, while I'm on Orange, with an M6 mobile plan, and it's not working at all...

You just need to connect to the "browser" and then press the blackberry key on your BB, and a menu will unfold. Select "bookmark," and you'll see three other menus; choose the first one, hover over it, and then press the blackberry key on your BB again, and you'll get a new dropdown menu. Select options, and from there, you have all the internet browser options. You just need to change "Px Live" to "Public access point browser."

And then there's nothing more to pay! Except your Wi-Fi subscription.
    That's it!

A big thank you to all of you for your responses because I had exactly the same problem except that I couldn’t connect to the Internet at all. I have a 1-hour unlimited SMS plan with SFR and I have a Blackberry 8520 with Wi-Fi capability... To connect to a Wi-Fi service, you need to go to "Options," "Advanced Options," "Browser," and then change vodafone life to "Public Access Point Browser" and then... magic, it works! Thank you all for your advice.

      Hello everyone!

I have a connectivity problem with my BB Curve 8520, it says no connection is available and that if the problem persists I should contact my provider, but the girl at the SFR store told me it was probably a network issue, she didn't really want to elaborate... Sometimes, it says "a communication problem has been encountered. The server may be busy." I have an SFR Illymithics 3G+ Full Internet 1h plan. Everything worked fine when I received the phone and was under my old blocked plan...
In the options, I have "Public access point browser" enabled but nothing changes.
Does anyone know what to do?

      Thank you very much!

You need to try to connect with the paid thing, but before connecting you have to press the BlackBerry logo (on your BB) in such a way that a menu appears, then you look for the "Bookmarks" section, click on it, then you'll have three menus and you take the first one that says "Connect to the access point" and there you go!

Hello, I have a BlackBerry Curve 8520, and I have a plan of €21.90 (under 18 plan) with Orange. I have already tried each of your solutions and I still can't connect, why? When I go to Manage Connections, then Network WiFi Settings, and I search for my Livebox (I can find it), then it asks me: Do you want to configure WPS (I do not know what that is), I click Next and it says Add this PIN to your public wireless access point: 45******. And I have to wait 5 minutes. Why is that? Did I perform the correct procedure? If not, how should I proceed?

    THANK YOU

Juju, when he asks you to configure the WPS, you click on back, and then they just ask you for the pre-shared key of your Livebox to connect to it.

Hello, I'm in the same situation as all of you! I can't connect to WIFI.. I've done everything you said! I set my Blackberry to public hotspot mode. My router (as well as all the others) is detected but I still can't go online! The same message keeps coming back; Unable to connect to the internet, please try again later. If the problem persists, contact your service provider. I feel like I have a limited connection actually.. Moreover, in connection management, next to my wifi there's no green "V" but a white bar..
I went to different stores to understand better, but I think they don't know anything about Blackberry.. Some tell me it's impossible to connect to wifi with a Blackberry without the Blackberry option on the plan, others say it might have a problem and needs to be sent back..! I'm starting to get fed up, I've been looking for several months but no one can help me.. I'm counting on you!

Hello, I have the same problem after trying with two phones. I am with Virgin and nothing works to connect to my Neuf box; I enter my web key and it's rejected. I found a public Wi-Fi access point from SFR and it asks me to enter my email address and password. I don’t know what to do before making a mistake. I'm counting on you to give me a little help. I have a no-contract plan with 3GB of internet connection, but right now I have €0.45 extra on my account and I don’t understand why! Otherwise, I receive quite a few emails from my inbox, but the rest remains a dilemma. Thank you for responding. Best regards.

When do you know that you are being charged the 50 cents? If "I call" to check the remaining balance of my credit, there is never any change in my credit balance between each internet connection.

Does this mean that I am not paying the 50 cents, or is it the same for you, but on the paper bill, it’s a surprise, meaning that you only realize it when you receive the bill?

Help! I might be greatly exceeding my plan without realizing it!

I have the same plan as you with SFR, so I have the same problem. You just need to modify your browser's default settings.
However, I also have a question: I used the Everest method when "UNABLE TO FIND THE REQUIRED SERVER" displays, which means pressing several times in the middle. But when I do that, it resets the loading at the beginning each time, so it doesn't help at all.

I am currently experiencing the same issue. I've had my BB since July, and since yesterday morning, I cannot connect to Wi-Fi. Everything was working perfectly just before. I don't have an internet subscription with my operator, so I stay connected to the livebox permanently. I'm seriously troubled about receiving my emails. I've tried everything; I'm on a hotspot, and nothing. I've reconfigured my BB with the livebox and a new code. My livebox detects it as connected... So where does this problem come from, please?

Remove your SIM card and put it back in; it works now (it's the Orange woman who did it). Otherwise, be careful because with Orange, in the blocked Blackberry plan, there is no internet!

Good evening, in my opinion, they use the connection on the plan, so you have to be careful! To do this, you need to monitor your plan consumption on the consumption app on your mobile phone or on your operator's website. To make it free, you should connect to a public Wi-Fi network that is free or to your ADSL connection. For this, you need to save the security web key of your modem, which is usually engraved on the back, as well as the network name (SSID) or ask your ADSL operator, especially if you do not have an internet plan on your mobile. Be careful, as the bill may increase!
      Best regards.

Hello everyone who has a problem with internet on their BB, here is the solution: after activating your Wi-Fi, first select the menu, then go to options, then advanced options, click on browser, then choose public access point browser. After that, go to the browser and enter a URL, click several times (10 times or more) before the connection failure message shows up and try it several times until the desired site appears. I hope this helps you, thank you.
