    Hello
right-click on the taskbar and check if "Lock the taskbar" is checked. If it is, uncheck it and then you can resize your taskbar; in the end, lock the taskbar again.

    Hello,

I had the same problem, and after a good month, I finally found the solution... all by myself! ;-)

The issue comes from the icons in the "quick launch area," meaning the icons that you can place right next to the Start button.

It's quite simple; they can be displayed as small or large icons, and when they are in large icons, it causes a slightly wider toolbar to appear with the icons on the right displayed in two lines.

    To restore it:
    1)
    Unlock the taskbar

    2)
Hover your mouse over the dark blue dotted lines and move them a little to the right to leave space after the last icon (as if you were going to add one)

    3)
Place your mouse between the last icon and the dotted lines, right-click, go to View > and then check "small icons"

    4)
Lock the taskbar again and there you go!!!

... and don't ask me how they changed to large, I myself didn’t understand how it happened!!! ;-)

      Hello,
Under Vista, right-click on the taskbar, then properties, then the toolbars tab, and uncheck the quick launch box!
      It worked for me!

On the right, I have my icons in a line and on the left in 3 lines, and it's impossible to bring these 3 lines into a single one to reduce my taskbar. What should I do?

    Hardware: Windows XP

Hi everyone, I have the same problem except that it's on the right side next to the clock where I have several icons.
In fact, instead of being aligned, which would reduce my taskbar, they are stacked on top of each other. I've tried everything that has been said here, but it doesn't work.
What exactly should I do to have all these icons on the right aligned?
    Thank you for your responses.

    Hello,
Unfortunately, the taskbar is not locked; for your information, I can expand and minimize it, but I can only minimize it to a minimum of 2 lines.

    Thank you very much.

I saw the same problem with someone yesterday. I unlocked the taskbar, then I enlarged it and found my documents and plenty of other files included in the bar. I right-clicked on each file and clicked on close, and so on until I closed all the files, and then I resized the bar back to its original size and locked it. There you go.

    Hello Adiboo67
I just tried this technique, and it worked
I don't understand how that happened because I didn't have any document or anything in the taskbar.
Thank you very much for your help, and have a great day

    Hello
I've been having trouble with my screen and computer for the past 3 days. I have a double taskbar at the bottom, and my screen has zoomed in, taking up too much space; I can't see anything, everything is in big font. I have to set it to 75% to write emails or browse other sites instead of 100%.
Still, my computer visually is misconfigured!!! All of this happened when I closed it; the mouse landed on the Windows logo, on Start!!
