Good evening everyone,

I received the following message this evening:

Subject: Order confirmation, credit card charge.
From: obitalexport@gmail.com <obitalexport@gmail.com>
Date: Friday, July 17, 2009, 6:28 PM

Message:

Hello,

We are pleased to inform you that your credit card has been charged successfully.

Summary: Order # 7890125
- Laptop SAMUSNG DS4587 379.00 €
Your order will be processed within 48 hours.

Thank you.
The UBALDI team.

For any claims, or to dispute this order, please contact the following number: +33 (0) 892 230 322, service code: 84859 (€0.34 per minute) 24/7

I haven't ordered anything
I can't find this reference at Samsung
I called the number: a voicemail invited me to wait, then a female voice announced that the person was unavailable
This number exists -Google- but with different service codes
....

Nevertheless, I need to rush to the bank first thing tomorrow morning and also dispute just in case....

I wanted to share this message with you
Maybe it's not in the right forum??

Best regards

They make you believe that you have ordered, give you a PREMIUM rate phone number, and since you didn't order anything, you call and pay for the call for nothing! So it’s a SCAM!!

    Two solutions:

    Either it's an error (possible)
Or it's SPAM, but SPAM invites you to buy more than to inform you that you bought something.

Yes, you can check with the bank, it seems to me to be a security measure to take. If after a week nothing has gone through, it means it was an error.

Honestly, I don't believe much in SPAM or Phishing in this case.

Finally, a zero risk does not exist, so caution remains the mother of safety.

    Best regards, TLK.

    Edit: Ubaldi does exist: https://www.ubaldi.com/accueil/

      Good evening The King Lion,

Yes, it can also be a mistake.
I noticed the existence of UBALDI via Google.
I sent them an information message

      Thank you for your reply

Thanks by the way to the moderator (moska) who just warned me that my discussion was moved from an inappropriate forum -:)

What surprises me is "Laptop SAMUSNG "
    It is normally called "Samsung"...
Yes, an attempt at a scam.

Hello to you who have replied to me or simply read this,

Of course the brand is SAMSUNG but I also happen to accidentally reverse the keys on the keyboard, in which case it could indeed spell SAMSNUG!.... What is more striking are the other mistakes in the text - grammatical this time. The reference seems to not exist, the phone number is already very much used by other "concepts," only the service code changes! UBALDI also confirmed they are not aware of this and it is indeed a case of identity theft that they will take care of on their end.

Of course, the tricksters send this type of message on a Friday late afternoon to apply pressure!

I went to the bank this morning - my account is at an establishment open on Saturday mornings! - just to be cautious: no debit on the account. To be continued.

So, no panic but let the information circulate.....

      Have a great weekend everyone

Yes, I suspected someone would take care of it. It wasn't really the right place, but I thought it was simpler to let them move your message.

Well, I think all you have to do now is wait. Just keep an eye on your bank for at least a week.

    Best, TLK

P.S.: Don't pay attention to those automated messages from the moderators; it's easier for them (no need to craft a personalized message for everyone, if you knew the work involved :)), but deep down they're very nice :)

It's more of a scam than spam since several people have received it and the phone number to inquire about it is, of course, premium-rate... you just need to check the number on Google; the results are interesting ;)

I also received this message last night for the purchase of a laptop SAMSUNG DS4587 Laptop (you'll notice that it's not even written as SAMSUNG!! Plus, this model doesn't seem to exist! After contacting Ubaldi, they replied that this message did not come from them. I'm also monitoring my bank transactions! In the meantime, anyone who has information!
