Hello Francine,
I just received your message regarding the credit card scam via PayPal.
After quite a few steps and worries, my bank (Crédit Mutuel) fully reimbursed me. I only lost the fees incurred for replacing my credit card.
However, there’s more to it; I receive almost daily new scam attempts in very varied forms (they must be selling the files!...)
You need to stay very alert to all messages like: lottery, you’ve won n millions, etc.).
To identify messages more easily, I switched my messaging system to Windows Live (it’s free) and seems a bit more secure.
Good luck, it should get sorted out with your bank.

Hello everyone,
I work at PayPal, and I can confirm that these are phishing attempts. Scammers are trying to gain access to your PayPal credentials to misuse your account.
To avoid these scams, pay attention to details like spelling and grammar; often these emails come from automatic translators and are barely understandable. Generally, our emails are clear to everyone :)
One trick specific to us: we always use our clients' first and last names in our emails, which start with "Hello Marcel Dupont". So if you receive an email that begins with "Dear customer", "dear PayPal member", or similar, that email is fake.
If you have any doubts about the origin of a PayPal email, never click on a link it provides and don't hesitate to inquire with customer service.
In any case, if you have fallen victim to phishing and a transaction has been made with your PayPal account without your authorization, please know that PayPal will reimburse you 100%. To get reimbursed, simply log into your PayPal account, go to the Resolution Center, and inform us of the problem.
If anything is unclear, feel free to ask me questions.
Have a great day everyone
Camille.

Hello
It is primarily the sender's email address that needs to be analyzed, especially what is behind the @
An email coming from "service.paypal@financier.com" is fraudulent, for example.
An email coming from xxxxxxxxx@paypal.fr is legitimate.
Correct me if I'm wrong, Camille.
At AVEN France, we forward these emails to abuse@paypal.fr, and when there is a link that directs to a fake site with phishing pages, we report it to Google as a counterfeit site via Firefox.
It would also be good to remind that PayPal does not need to ask its customers to confirm their credentials and codes.
Finally, when you want to visit the PAYPAL site and before entering your login credentials, make sure the URL starts with https.

Hello chrisvorascam,
You are absolutely right to report these counterfeit sites to Google as well as to our services; it’s a very good reflex to have.
However, the sender's address is not a true guarantee of security, as very skilled hackers can successfully imitate it very convincingly, and an unsuspecting user may be deceived.
Also, always check before logging into your account that you are indeed on https://www.paypal.fr.
You are also correct to point out that we do not ask users to confirm their password and personal information via email, nor do we ask them to click on a link to do so.
Thank you for your contribution.
Have a good day
Camille

Hello Nathnath,
I understand your frustration; it's never pleasant to be a victim of unauthorized transactions.
However, have you opened a dispute for this issue? To do so, you need to log into your account, go to the dispute manager, and click on "dispute a transaction." When a user opens a dispute in this interface, it is impossible for us not to respond.
Keep me updated on your issue.
Have a good day.

Good evening Camille,
I opened a dispute and contested it, I provided all the necessary information but received no response. After that, I closed my account and contested it with my bank and filed a complaint. Fortunately for me, I have insurance with my credit card, and the amount was refunded to me, but not thanks to PayPal.

Hello,
having received a similar type of email regarding my PayPal account, I fell for it and to this day about 1000
euros have been debited from my credit card
does the bank reimburse fraudulent purchases?
Best regards

As I mentioned elsewhere, if a PayPal message starts with "Dear customer", it's a fake!
Real PayPal messages contain YOUR NAME at the top to prove that they already know you!

Hello,
I'm sorry to contradict you, but I just received today, on 05/29/2009 at 07:28, a fake email from PayPal that includes my REAL NAME AND FIRST NAME in the header. I'm sorry, but that's the truth. On the other hand, the eBay item number in question does not exist, and since I hadn't made any purchases on eBay for quite a while, I immediately sensed a scam.
So yes, it is possible to receive a fake email with your name, first name, and email included.
The item number is bogus and the sale date is in 2005, so it's hard to be fooled.

Be very careful, because now they are getting into servers and they have the names of all of us. It’s enough for them to simply access the PC of one of your acquaintances who is not protected, and they have access to all the addresses. That’s how I found myself with an invitation to a site called "vip ocean" where it was said Patricia Lequem invites you to find her on vip. I went there, and for €1 and a gift "an mp3/mp4", I was entitled to a free subscription for a month. I took it, and after a month when I received my bank statement, it was not €1 that they had taken but over €60, and my card number has been circulated around the world where each time, I have had euros taken from me. I put a stop payment with my bank and filed a complaint with the police. Go to Google and type "vip ocean scam" and you will see I am not the only one. As for "PayPal", I know from my bank that their servers have been accessed, and that’s why we receive phishing emails from PayPal. The best thing when you receive a message that you doubt, is to use your search engine to contact "PayPal" or others, inform them of the email you just received, even going so far as to do a copy-paste, and you will see the response they will give you. Or simply do like our "Belgian" friends, they are smarter than us, they get paid directly by their banks for all payments. I asked my bank, and there are no problems. Let’s stop letting them steal our money; be careful, the scammers don’t go on vacation without our money.
Email is just an email, you can't trust it. Never enter information in an email or reply with information. It should be entered on a website. An SSL certificate is a certificate that encrypts communications between the client and the server in an unbreakable asymmetric way. These certificates also serve to prove someone's identity. They are created by trusted authorities (VeriSign, GeoTrust, ...) which investigate the applicants. They are visible by the small padlock in the web browser interface. They ensure that the communication cannot be intercepted and that we are indeed dealing with who we believe. However, it is ideally necessary to check that the certificate is valid, but generally the web browser warns if it is not.

Hello, I also received a PayPal email and clicked on it, and 2100 euros were withdrawn from my account.
They purchased passports for Disney vacation.
They recharged PayPal accounts and also bought a sofa from Maison Confort.
This has happened to me twice in a year.

By the way, it wasn't PayPal that scammed me, it was a hacker posing as PayPal, and I fell into the trap. If you receive a suspicious email, don't respond, especially.
Good evening, some time ago I received an email to which I did not respond, stating that there were unusual activities on a PayPal account belonging to me. I think everything started from my registration on the site www.entreparticuliers.com. After checking the scam site, I immediately withdrew. Luckily for me, I lost my credit card before receiving the email from PayPal.

Good evening, yesterday I had a withdrawal of €19.80 from wisteee.fr and today I have €180.80 withdrawn from my account under all sorts of names. I have blocked my card, but all the withdrawals from my card are still going through until tomorrow, so I wonder what state I will find my bank account in.
I wrote to wistee.fr to inform them and they replied that I should file a complaint and that if the police ask them who used my bank card, they would tell them. So I hope they find that bastard.

Hello
thank you for your response
I was about to file a complaint against PayPal
I now know that these are fake PayPal emails
but since PayPal is supposedly secure
and they know that people are using their name with fake PayPal
they should do something to prevent this
I will still write to them and explain my case
thank you again
have a great day

Well, I also just got screwed out of €1300, everything was debited from my personal account via PayPal!! I'm furious! Strange thing, there's a guy from PayPal in Dublin who called me to report the scam and directly blocked my PayPal account! He told me that the money wouldn’t be debited from my bank account: but today surprise, €1300 debited!! Weirdly, I have all the email addresses of the people who took my money!! I've filed a complaint and suspended my credit card! And I'm waiting to see what happens next with my bank!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hello, I just received an email from PayPal, and there is a certain form that I need to open to fill out, but the problem is that it doesn’t work, the page won’t open.
Moreover, I would like to know if this message is real or not.

Unable to reach you by phone, our team has temporarily suspended these transactions while awaiting your confirmation of their legitimacy.
We kindly ask you to connect to the link below, to provide some necessary information, a phone number where we can reach you, and your availability window. Hi
Do not reply to this email because it is a scam. In fact, when Paypal contacts a customer by email, they address the person by their first and last name, not by "Dear Paypal customer".
I only read the beginning of your message and immediately saw it was a fake email, so I hope you didn't do anything. I myself was scammed out of 700 euros, and I received exactly the same email.
Bye

Hello, I am with Free and I just received the same message as you today, so I will contact PayPal to see what can be done because it's frustrating and stressful to receive this kind of email. I am currently at work, I will return at noon and look into the matter today, but above all, do not respond because as a webmaster, I find it strange that they call you "dear customer," but look closely at the message, all the accents are missing. A site like PayPal wouldn't make that many mistakes. Also, if you have a spam filter, when you click on the link, your spam will block it, and when you really allow it, you open the page with a form where you have to provide all your information, strange. I received the same thing the other day from Free saying that someone had tried to access my bank details and that I had to click on a link to contact them as soon as possible, and when I clicked on the link, I noticed that it was asking a lot of questions, especially like the one here to enter your card number and encrypted code, something I, of course, did not do. Then I called Free, they were aware it was a fraudulent email and told me to disregard it, and I find that there are many at the moment. I see that it's spreading faster than in previous years, but when it comes to giving my banking information, I never do it, especially through this kind of email, since in the email in question, the person is in the head of the other person because they know that they made over €500 in orders and at various postal addresses; that one is clever. Already, that's where the email is really strange since they think for you.
In any case, be very careful even if the site is protected as indicated in the link https and the little padlock; be very careful when entering your banking information online, make sure you are well informed beforehand.
Best regards.

Sorry, you’re solidly screwed... no matter what information you have from them (name, email, phone, ...) it's useless. This information is false, forged, stolen, or worthless. These scammers are untouchable because their countries are simply too corrupt.
Have you read PayPal's terms of use? Probably not:
https://www.paypal.com/fr/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/gen/ua/policy_guarantee-outside
vi. 1:
"Fraud. Under no circumstances will PayPal refund requests in cases of fraud or false information by the buyer. Additionally, no fees will be refundable in cases of fraud."
No matter what PayPal does or implements as a measure, they can in no way be held responsible; THEY ARE ALREADY DOING ENOUGH TO TRY TO PROTECT YOU! It’s up to you to have that little red light go on before you dive headfirst into a trap...
Try all you want, but the chances are slim...
Remember, a warned man is worth two, so two warned men will be worth four. Knowledge is the best weapon against anything!!!

Good evening, I was in the same situation as you, I was scammed out of €676.85, they bought a plane ticket from a travel agency in the 93. The thief or thieves sent me an email pretending to be PayPal, I didn't notice anything wrong, of course, telling me that my account had errors. I didn't respond to the first email, nor the second, and to the third one, I replied and they got me, the bastards. Of course, I filed a complaint against unknown persons, but since I'm not called SARKOZY...!

Hello
I too fell victim to a scam involving PayPal...
I need to file a complaint, but I would like to know if we can claim moral damages?

You're absolutely right in the response you gave to that client, but you know what? I too became a victim of credit card fraud via PayPal. AND YET!!! The site is secure, and you can’t imagine the number of HACKERS or SPAMMERS that operate on so-called "secure" sites. I was also being very careful and then, BAM, it happened to me. Unfortunately!!! Who’s going to pay the price for that? It's me.
I too have been a victim of 12 withdrawals of 20 euros for online games. PayPal should reimburse me 240 euros, but the fees are in progress at the bank which will pay them. Who can help me? Thank you...
I find it disgusting, everywhere it says that PAYPAL is secure, that it covers you in case of disputes like this but no, nothing at all!!!!
