The source file is corrupted: installations..

Hello,
so let me explain: for some time now, I've been struggling to install certain games or other software. Indeed, I receive the error message
An error occurred during file copying: the source file is corrupt
Now the real problem is that I've searched absolutely everywhere (especially on this site) and found NOTHING coherent; most state that it's a drive issue, except these are downloadable games that aren't working for me, and no, they aren't illegal downloads, a demo of Trine is official and legal and it's not working. The same goes for Dragonica, which is a free MMORPG. SO I don't understand anything and I would like to have my games.

Something makes me think of a temporary file problem since the non-working files are located in the temp folder... Afterwards, I have no idea what they're doing there and not on the desktop where I downloaded the setup.exe file.

Please, O great masters of computing, help this poor amateur who can't find answers to his questions!

Thank you in advance.
Configuration: Windows Vista Firefox 3.0.11

Well, I found it by myself^^ Just use the Downthemall! plugin for Firefox!
It works, and as I think it's related to the management of temporary files that it's getting stuck.

What does that mean? How did you do it?
I downloaded The Sims 3 from télécharger.com, and I have the corrupted file issue too, it's annoying... Especially when you pay 50 euros, what should I do? Thank you in advance.

Hello

Apparently the issue can be bypassed by Firefox and a plugin that manages downloads. Here are the links for Zuzu's solution:

https://addons.mozilla.org/en/firefox/addon/downthemall/

Friends, I have the solution :)
Just download the zip version (normally it's unreadable, it's in Windows Media Player or VLC format :)) then you just need to extract the downloaded file to a folder you can remember (for example: Downloads) with WinRAR. After that, go to the folder where you extracted everything and click on the game's logo :P Dragonica or Sims :) install it and that's it :P
Hoping this helps you :) my game has crashed a good ten times, but I was able to redo the process each time. If you didn't understand, let me know the problem ;) a+++

Hello, I have the same problem as you but with the game Flyff that I downloaded legally from the gpotato website and at a quarter of the download it tells me that the source file is corrupted. I have downloaded the game twice but without success. HELP. (I am on Vista and I am downloading with Google Chrome.)

Hold a link where you can directly download Dragonica in zip format ;) http://statistics.gpotato.eu/...

Copy the entire link and paste it into the bar at the top of the internet :)

I hope I helped you, bye!

I have the same problem as you. I downloaded (legally) The Sims 3 and during the installation a window appears and tells me:
c:\temp\thesims3_ambitions\caches\twinbrook.objectcache
An error occurred while copying a file:
The source file is corrupted

I can either "abort", "retry" or "ignore". When I abort, the installation stops. If I retry, it shows me the same message again, and when I ignore, the installation continues but then (I don't know if it’s related) it asks me to insert CD1 (which I shouldn't need normally since I downloaded the game from GamesPlanet).

CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE!

I've got the same issue with The Guild 2 downloaded from Orange Games, and there's no solution anywhere, I don't know what to do. I think I'm going to start downloading illegal games again since the paid games aren't working.

Hello,
I have the same problem with The Sims 3 (base game), downloaded legally from Orange Games. It shows me this error message for every file being extracted, so I didn't complete the installation and ended up giving up. If anyone finds an explanation, please contact me at: bella-black-24@hotmail.fr.
Thank you in advance!

Hi, I see that Gamesplanet has a bad reputation or is it all game download sites? Anyway, I signed up for Gamesplanet two days ago and now I'm having problems. For Stronghold Collection everything is fine, but for Settlers 7 I received an error message like; (the source file is corrupted) welcome to the club of corrupted source files I would say :D I'm joking but it's frustrating to pay for something that ultimately doesn't work, I see now why the majority of people pirate games, it's obvious. But I'm waiting to see if the site can find a solution for me, otherwise I'll ask for a refund for the game.... Hello to you, internet friends :)

bje I have exactly the same problem with City Life 2008. Okay, it's nice, we all have the same issue, but who has the solution? So I hope someone will find it. Hello, internet friend.

Exactly the same for Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing... it feels like no game works! I would like to find the solution quickly because we have better things to do than pay for nothing! Tssss
