Hello,
I just bought a Mio Spirit Moov S505 GPS. After reading the sparse user manual, several questions remain. Therefore, I would like to know:
- how the speed camera detection works
- how to use the Info Traffic function (a TMC service, I'm not quite sure)

For the differences, you have the S300 and S305, small model in 3.5 inches. The 5 meaning Europe. So S300 is FR and S305 is Europe. For the S505, it’s a simple 4.7-inch. The S555 is the complete product with premium TMC without a €30 tax and Bluetooth and Google search. The V models are those with the integrated TNT tuner. The V505 is the 4.7 inches Europe and the V735 is the 7 inches double DIN Europe.
The Mio Spirit 500 Traffic GPS (S505) has TMC but only for major highway routes, and it is activated by default as soon as it is plugged into the cigarette lighter, or you can purchase a key for the full (premium) version, or get the S555 model (Spirit 500HF) or the new Spirit Flat (S568) which is highly sought after.
The Traffic Info will alert you to major construction and traffic jams that will be on your pre-loaded route.
Regarding the connection:
Have you checked if the Mio Spirit 500 Traffic GPS (S505) is recognized by your PC when you connect it to the USB port? Otherwise, when you launch the software, the relevant menu will not appear.
Afterwards, it is explained by Voyageur.

I've been using my Mio S505 GPS since May 2010 and I'm really happy with my investment. In terms of design, screen size, menu and map display: no complaints, it meets my expectations. With its Slide Touch dropdown menus, I can easily access all the information I want. Navigation has become easy and quick because it offers me a 3D display and TruMap views.
What interests me the most are the economical routes it suggests. In short, I recommend it to you.

Hello, I have a 505TV, and the navigation is a real disaster—errors at roundabouts, poor guidance at highway exits, and the speed cameras are even worse. I drove around Madrid for 2 hours trying to get out because of one-way streets and blocked roads. In the end, I unlocked it and now I'm using iGO, which offers real guidance and a nearly immediate reaction in case of an error.

For the radars, there's nothing to do; it works on its own.
However, they will not be updated.
I recommend that you go to alertegps.com and download the files for the mio 500.

For the TMC, the signal is in the car charger. Just plug it in for it to work. But it will only work in classic mode, which means on the highways. If you want access to all roads, you will need to pay a fee of €30 to benefit from it all the time and for free.
As for the speed cameras, there's a database in the GPS, but it's not up to date. You can either pay for an annual subscription or look for free databases online.

I just purchased the Mio Spirit Moov S505 GPS and would like to enter the activation code for the premium TMC (to have something other than the so-called "classic" highway TMC). However, there is nothing in the Mio More software that allows me to do this.
No "Activation" option as mentioned in the manual.
I have asked Mio Support the question, but they are in no hurry to respond. I might end up calling and paying for the call. Unless you've already faced this issue.
Maybe I can update Mio More (version 6.10 for me), but Google is not my friend in this case.

As for me, I have set all the tabs in "my preferences" under "traffic" to "yes."
During my trip through Spain, a traffic jam in Madrid was reported, and it was "devilishly" accurate!
My Mio was connected to the cigarette lighter and a pre-defined route was programmed.
Knowing that my Mio knew where I was going, it picked up my signal and was simultaneously informed about the latest updates sent by local radio stations.
The fact that it was connected to the cigarette lighter doesn’t seem essential for receiving radio waves!!!
If your Mio configuration is poor or if there are no FM radios with traffic information on your route, your Mio will remain silent.

To respond to pim69 and after reading the notice, the cable connected to the cigarette lighter indeed serves as an antenna to receive traffic information.
Regarding the configuration, everything is original on mine and no actions through websites have been taken.
The only recurring issue shared by other users is the unexpected battery drain without using the device.
This concerns me because this type of battery cannot be replaced and only offers the alternative of throwing it away when its time comes.
At best, to the landfill, then buy another one!
However, while the information provided by this tool is very useful, the recycling of the materials used leaves much to be desired.
This company is not particularly at fault, but rather the entire process.
Why should I part with a product whose information completely satisfies me but whose technology or rational replacement does not keep up?
Is this a 'has-been' thought?
The next few years will tell us!

I still haven't called Mio, but I conclude that if I don't see the "Activation" menu, my Spirit is not recognized by MioMore Desktop 6.10. Well done Mio. And I can't find any patch/update easily on the internet. A call to the hotline seems inevitable...
I specify: EVERYTHING is properly connected, my GPS indicates that it is in USB mode, I can even copy/paste plenty of stuff via the explorer, no problem. MioMore even sees the photos that are on it! But no Activation menu.

We purchased a mio 500 but we can't find the activation key needed to enable the TMC. We entered the code on the back of the CD, but one digit is missing... can you tell us where to find this activation key?

WARNING !!!!!!!! There is a bug on the Mio Moov SPIRIT 500 with the 2011 maps. I currently have the same dispute with NORAUTO and Mio directly, and they are really treating me like a fool.
Anyway! Mio, based in England, even called me to say that on certain serial numbers of this product, they have noticed a malfunction with the 2011 maps. So, being a resident of France, they suggested I uninstall all the maps, all the voices, and even the POIs, keeping only the France map. This seems to be a roundabout way of saying that the product has a bug without wanting to acknowledge it.
On the NORAUTO side, they also do not want to recognize that Mio indeed had a special NORAUTO - Mio offer, with map updates for two years.
As a result, the first customer service returns within 48 hours of purchase, and to think I bought two!!!!!!!
Mio even has the audacity to return the products to me with a 2009 map update. It’s true that with old maps they seem to function correctly.
My two Mios are, today, unable to function since the beginning, i.e. August 29, 2011.
It’s time to stop treating consumers like "cash cows". Mio and NORAUTO need to take responsibility for their mistakes.
