Your CD or DVD drive may be the cause of the crash. If you have a burner, try changing your boot sequence in the BIOS and install from the burner.
-
Try to delete all partitions on your disk and then format it in NTFS (full format and not quick to start with a clean disk) and continue the installation.
If you still have the problem, it's either:
- your CD drive is faulty
- your hard drive may have bad sectors
- the CD has a problem
- your RAM stick may have a transient defect (I had this issue with a stick but I could do the complete installation, however the PC rebooted quite often afterwards after usage varying from a few seconds to several hours)
Another question, is your computer connected to a modem when you install XP?
If so, disconnect the modem and do not configure internet access or network during the installation.-
Hello
The computer always reboots at the same loading point of XP
The CD drive is new
I tried with another XP CD, same problem
I have formatted several times and installed the XP CD but the same issue persists
The memory is new and from Corsair
I don’t know what to do
Do I need to modify the BIOS????

Was this computer already running before or did you just assemble it?
What is your motherboard?
What is the frequency or the number displayed next to Athlon?
If it shows Athlon 2000+, it's just that your motherboard's BIOS is outdated and does not recognize the Sempron, which can indeed cause a problem because the specifications of the Sempron and the Athlon XP 2000+ (which run at the same frequency: 1667 MHz) are not the same.
If that is the case, the solution to your problem is both simple and complicated:
You need to flash the BIOS
Be aware that if the computer crashes during this operation, your motherboard may get ruined.
I know that recent ASUS motherboards use a crash-free BIOS system that allows you to recover the system in case of a problem; for other brands, I am not sure. -
No need for 256 MB of memory! That's just for it to work better!
A XP installation can very well be done with 64 MB of RAM! -
-
What is your setup?
For XP, you need at least 256MB of memory
Is your CD an XP CD or a reinstallation CD?
Have you partitioned your disk? -
config 256 MB of memory (corsair)
the cd is xp fami (original)
I have partitioned the hard drive
the cd starts and when it gets to two minutes before the end it blocks -
If you have the same problem with 2 different CDs, it is not your CD that is at fault. You are left with 2 possibilities: either your CD drive, although new, is defective, or your hard drive has bad sectors positioned in the wrong place, preventing you from completing the installation.
If you can install another disk and try the installation on this new disk, you should eliminate another possibility or find the fault. -
Your BIOS thing has no impact.
Every time I've had this problem, it was because of a faulty RAM stick. It sounds strange for Corsair, but still, try changing the RAM stick.
You shouldn't have changed the CD drive; it rarely comes from that, lol.

this is the first assembly
my motherboard msi k7n2 delta2 platinum -
In the BIOS, it says AMD Athlon (TM) XP, and I have a Sempron 2400 on the motherboard.

Hi, the problem is the RAM stick, it's corrupted... too bad.
Because Windows uses the RAM stick fully for the installation, and if you have a few bad sectors in it, it messes everything up... there you go, good luck! -
Thanks JeanPierre66, it seemed stupid, but I had to change my CD player and the installation went wonderfully.
