I just bought a Gigaset AS280 phone that I plugged into the outlet, but there's no dial tone. Does anyone know why? I've connected everything correctly... Just so you know, I'm with Free; I don't know if that matters...

I just bought it just now, so I'm not sure about it. When I put it on the base, I had to wait 3/4 min to register the phone... After that, I set the date and time, but there’s no dial tone, and when I call the landline from my mobile, there’s a dial tone on my mobile but no ringing on the landline.

I have a new Siemens Gigaset AS280 landline phone, but I don't have the manual in the box. For now, the only thing I've done is plug the base into the power outlet and connect the Ethernet cable to the Numéricable box in the indicated spot for telephones. However, I don't have a dial tone... What should I do?
Note that I also have a cable with a phone jack in the box; should it be connected as well?

The answer to this problem for me was very quick and easy.
I just had to press and hold the green button on my Gigaset AS280 to get a dial tone.
I hope your issue gets resolved as quickly as mine did. -
When you press the button, is it the base or the handset that rings?
Have you registered the mobile on the base? -

I have the AS 285 and when people call me they have to wait for 4 rings, while I only had one?
And the messages are hard to read
Also the call forwarding doesn't seem to work, apparently, I'm with a Livebox

Yes, I registered on the base and it's the combined one that rings.

To put the phone into service
Hardware reset
Menu - Settings OK - Handset - OK _Reset Handset - OK Factory Config.? - OK
Disconnect the power cord. While holding down the Registration/Paging button (p.1) on the base, reconnect the power cord to the base. Release the button after about 5 seconds. The NT1 phone will configure itself, then place the second one on the base, then the third one on the base.

concerning the ringtone
Please remove all handsets from the base;
- Disconnect the telephone line from the base;
- Unplug the power cord from the base;
- Please press the "Paging" button located on the base;
- Hold the button down;
- At the same time, reconnect the power cable
;- Keep the "Paging" button pressed for another 7 seconds, no more;
- Release the button;
- Unplug and plug it back in.
Then please reconnect the telephone line and power cord and leave your handset on the base for 5 minutes to register it.

HOWEVER, ON THE PHONE, I HAVE THE MESSAGE BY PRESSING A LITTLE ICON. IT'S THE FRC TELECOM VOICEMAIL AT 3193 AND I HAVE MY MESSAGE THERE, BUT NOTHING ON THE BASE

You don’t say what your equipment is, but generally, here’s what you should do:
you need to enter the mobile menu, find something like “pairing” or “declaring” or “subscribing”… you have to press the button on the base that’s used to locate the mobiles for long enough to get either a flashing LED if there is one on the base, or a biiiiiiiiip, then confirm the choice on the mobiles…

I found it, when I press the button it rings and on the handset it says "searching for handset!" but there's still no dial tone...

If you press the base button that is used to locate the mobile, does it ring or not?
If it is not registered, it can neither ring nor allow you to call...
You may need to charge it for a while before registering it to the base...

I can only see one possibility: that you plugged the cable into the digital part of your box instead of the analog part... but I'm not familiar with Freeboxes... so I can only advise you to check your connections; otherwise, I don't know, I'm sorry...;(

Actually, I plugged it into the Free wall socket in the "phone" hole, then I got a cable with an Ethernet plug but this cable doesn’t go anywhere...

here is the response from Gigaset service = super efficient and friendly and it works!
If you are having trouble registering your handset, we first advise you to remove the batteries and put them back in, as it may just be a minor glitch.
Otherwise, please carry out the reset procedure for your handset.
Turn off your handset (long press on the red hang-up button).
Press and hold the keys 1, 4, 7 and the hang-up button to turn the handset back on.
The word "Service" will appear on the screen
Release the keys
Enter the numbers one by one 4685463
The handset will be set to factory conditions (all contacts and settings will be erased) and it will automatically turn off after this procedure (you can turn it back on with a long press on the hang-up button).
